‘RICS Levitt Review – Part 7 – David Sandbrook FRICS

We hope you have enjoyed all of the previous 6 parts of our Levitt Review Podcast. 

James and Jon were delighted to host the Levitt Review podcast finale, part 7, with David Sandbrook FRICS, Governing Council member and Chair of RICS Levitt Review Recommendation Steering Group (SteerCo2, The Sequel).

David joined the podcast as our first Minerals Surveyor!  The boys had a great chat with David about his role and oversight of the Levitt Review recommendations.  His experience in the industry and Governing council makes him absolutely the right person for the job.

In addition to David’s new role, the discussion was littered with interesting experiences, canaries, ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Surveying, Derby Mountain Rescue and the fantastic news that David’s son (Gareth) has recently achieved his Charter MRICS.

As James and Jon bring this Levitt Review series to a close, David’s insights were invaluable to help us understand the work going on behind the scenes to rebuild our institution.  Rest assured this is not the last time you have heard from David…

We hope you have enjoyed parts 1 to 5 of our Levitt Review Podcast, so far…  

James and Jon were delighted to host part 6 of the podcast with Nick Maclean FRICS, the Interim Chair of RICS Governing Council.

Nick joined the podcast from Dubai, immediately reminding the boys of the fantastic British weather, as he resides in the Middle East winter, at a slightly chilly 20 degrees and sunny!   

A podcast littered with unique insights and some great anecdotes, it was a pleasure and honour to be able to discuss so candidly Nick’s experience, from inside GC and throughout the Levitt review process.  Nick left us with food for thought and an insight into the changing face of RICS, giving a vision for the future, as we pick ourselves up, dust off and get back to working together for the greater good.

S2E18 – Theo Till MRICS - Matrics National Chair

Matrics National Chair

James and Jon are delighted to host this episode’s guest, Theo Till MRICS, who has recently stepped into the role of RICS Matrics National Chair.

The boys chatted around many things ‘Theo’ and mapped his rise to the National Chair role. Both James and Jon have seen Theo grow into his RICS career from very different aspects.  Additionally and all importantly this episode is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of Matrics and the huge benefits of getting involved from the outset of your RICS Journey.

S2E14 The SurveYOUR podcast Special Feature – Running the Gauntlet - Part 5

‘APC Final Assessment Preparation – Homeward Bound’

Now Sam has achieved the deadline, deadlines, deadline, we have caught up with him again to discuss his revision progress and what he is doing to get prepared for his APC Final Assessment Interview in a few weeks.

Sam is still putting James and Jon to shame with his exercise regime which in turn is helping him keep his focus, as well as, undertaking mock interviews, question and answer sessions and presentation practice whilst he juggles day to day business and personal commitments too.  

Again, whilst it is great to chat, we have very little more to guide and advise and our time in the podcast gives us a moment to continue to encourage Sam in these last few weeks.

As we bring the podcast to a close, we cast our eye to the steadying force throughout the ‘Running the Gauntlet series’ and that is the SurveYOUR podcast, state of the art, relax-o-meter…. This time round we have an average score jumping from 5.5 to 8.3 which is quite large, but not unexpected, as the anticipation of the Final Assessment increases and the big day approaches.

Our final episode in the ‘Running The Gauntlet’ series will be post assessment and post result, which we are looking forward to.  We wish Sam all the best.
