Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, Part 3: "Now, Dig on This"
In the epic conclusion of our 3-part retrospective on the Sam Raimi Spider-Man saga, Odian Levy and I return for one final web-slinging adventure into "Spider-Man 3." As the closing chapter of a trilogy that captivated a generation, this film brought a tumultuous yet heartfelt ending to the story of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker.
Under Sam Raimi's visionary direction, "Spider-Man 3" presented a narrative brimming with complexity and controversy. Released over fifteen years ago, it left a distinct impression on both Odian and myself, challenging our expectations of superhero narratives. The film's ambitious attempt to weave multiple storylines and introduce iconic characters like Venom and Sandman has been a topic of much debate among fans and critics alike.
In this episode, we delve into the intricate web of "Spider-Man 3," exploring its narrative choices, character developments, and the emotional weight carried by Peter Parker as he confronts his darkest challenges yet. We analyze the portrayal of heroism and villainy, examining how the movie navigates themes of forgiveness, identity, and the consequences of power and revenge.
As we've done throughout this series, Odian and I share our personal reflections on the film, including how our perceptions have evolved over time. We discuss the broader impact of the trilogy on the superhero genre and its legacy in shaping the cinematic landscape.
So join us as we swing into the heart of "Spider-Man 3" – a film that, despite its polarizing reception, holds a special place in our journey through the world of Spider-Man. It's not just a conclusion to a beloved trilogy, but a testament to the enduring complexity and appeal of one of the most iconic superheroes in cinema.

Xenovember: Alien: Covenant
In the first ‘Xenovember’ episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Ridley Scott’s second prequel to his 1979 masterpiece, Alien, the divisive sci-fi horror film, Alien: Covenant!
Yet another wonderful score! Moments of true tension and chaotic horror! Beautiful cinematography and production design! Some of the worst vicarious back pain you’ll ever experience! Questionable character decisions mixed with solid performances and compelling human drama! Michael Fassbender in dual roles that are equally riveting and perfectly contrast each other! One of the most iconic flute-related scenes/lines in movie history! Somewhat unclear musings on the dangers of artificial intelligence and the concepts of sentience, creation, life, and death! Was this simply a way for Ridley Scott to make a quick buck and ensure funding for future projects? Does the demystification of the xenomorph continue to harm the series? Would Alien: Covenant be an easier watch for non-Alien fans?!
In addition, Tim shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Death Becomes Her, while Alex briefly discusses Talk to Me, Killers of the Flower Moon, and David Fincher’s new Netflix movie, The Killer!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. INSIDE The Planet of the Apes!
Whatever It Takes Pt.2
In this episode we discuss a much overdue Movie Corner (and not the movies ya think), Sesame Street shirts from Bluenotes, the phenomenon of teen boys thinking their friend is a dog/their sister into the hottest girl alive, an alternate universe where accordions are cool like guitars, humiliating people using the alphabet, those mesh bedazzled slipper sandals, whether the grotesque character of Ashley Grant is actually a feminist icon, registering your prom dress, gym floors that open into swimming pools and SO MUCH MORE!!!
Whatever It Takes
In this episode we discuss some Party Of Five reflections and retractions, getting unwanted peeks behind fast food curtains, the utterly off-brand/uncanny valley/poor man's nature of this film, how brazen Shakespeare is aka brazen Bill, the Aaron Paul dilemma of it all, how often teen crushes happen to be neighbours, when bangs go Betty Spaghetti, when c plot nerdy boy characters go to parties, whether the cast of Breaking Bad paid to bury this movie, plaid bedding, suffering from a pillow sham illness aka pillness, when a script is full Mad Libs and SO MUCH MORE!!!
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Reboots are all the rage, or at least they were in 2011. Planet of the Apes gets another turn at the Reboot process with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It's a film that has aged remarkably well over the last decade plus. A large portion of the credit goes to Andy Serkis, who the Visitors will be praising a lot here and in the remaining episodes to come. There are also some other actors in here that end up getting outshined by a CGI chimp, including Logan Roy?!? Also, the Visitors recall some of the reboots and remakes that came out in the first decade of the 2000s. Take a spin down memory lane and download this episode now!

117: "A-Camping We Will Go"
Who’s getting credit for this internship? What’s the fastest brain surgery available to forget this episode? And who’s got the hot potato takes this week? We scout the answers to these questions and more as we watch Season 5, Episode 21 of Family Matters.
Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.

I Couldn't Help But Wonder...
This week, we're discussing the controversial CANCEL CULTURE in regards to celebrity perpetrators of sexual assault and the psychology behind predators- can they change and be safely reintegrated back into society? We talk about actors such as James Franco, Kevin Spacey, and Armie Hammer- what they were accused of, how they responded to such claims, and if we think they should be allowed to return to their careers (and if so, under what conditions). Do these people, or any sexual predators, deserve a second chance? Can they be redeemed through rehabilitation? What does it mean if we, as a society, consider their humanity despite the things they've done? Does it take away from the pain of their victims, or can it help break the cycle of abuse?
As usual, we ask more questions than we answer but we hope this episode makes you think. We also talk about how many female celebrities have been cancelled for much less, if celebrities deserve to have their lives publicly discussed and analyzed, and the age-old question- are these people sorry for what they did, or simply sorry they got caught?
Thank you so much for listening, and please give us a rating/ review if you have the time; it really helps. Also give us a follow on our IG, @girltalkinhellpodcast, where we post updates and silly little things Madison makes.
