Black Friday is gone but maybe Cyber Monday will extend to add these titles to your shopping list or your personal library. Peter Sobczynski joins Erik Childress to talk about remastered films from Bernardo Bertolucci, Michael Mann and an ‘80s cult classic from Fred Dekker and Shane Black. There are films with early roles for Annette Bening, Theresa Russell and a campy sci-fi classic with Jane Fonda. We’ve got a Peppard alert! Plus maybe one of the better horror anthologies, one of the better straight-to-video sequels and, without debate, one of the funniest films of all-time getting the 4K upgrade.

Draft Class has a particular set of skills.......Good Luck.
As we approach the release of "Retribution," a movie in which Liam Neeson drives a car with his family inside of it and he can't stop driving or the car will explode and his family will die so he has to keep driving until he can figure out a way for his family not to die this is a real script or is it ChatGPT I don't know how can you tell isn't that kind of what the writer's and actors strikes is about who knows but seriously this is what the upcoming Liam Neeson movie is about so it's time for a LIAM NEESON celebration!
Also this episode has the biggest mic drop moment in the history of Draft Class. I know that sounds like a thing to make you click, but trust me, you'll agree once you hear it.

Up this week on the podcast, "Book Club: The Next Chapter," which could also be titled "Book Club 2," but isn't. Heck, it could also be titled "Let's Take a Trip to Italy Rather than Making a Great Sequel." There would be truth in all those titles and we're going to explore that a little bit more this week.
We’re showing our pride, Richies! As Pride Month comes to a close, we’re paying tribute to three queer trailblazers. These uniquely gifted actors are not only some of our favorite performers, but they also know how to stand up for what they believe, as they advocate for the LGBTQ+ community! As Lady Gaga famously sang, “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen.” And these three icons live up to that sentiment every single day.

Some genuine classics on physical media this week getting the 4K treatment. And others that are not. If ever there was a week to talk about the importance of physical media it is this one. Especially with the number of oddball titles you will probably never see on a streaming service. Peter Sobczynski joins Erik Childress to talk some of these rare titles including Alan Ladd as Jay Gatsby, a Paris cat man, Michael Parks in love with Ann-Margret, an old Jane Fonda film recently making headlines and a film written by Ruby Dee. There are also your general weird titles like perhaps a couple of the best films made by Roland Emmerich and Jason Statham as well as Peter’s choice for the best film transition in cinema history. Plus, if physical media is not there to preserve this week’s Criterion offering for generations, then what are we even doing?

Peter Sobczynski returns to update all the streamers on what is available on disc this week. They include a sadly all-too-timely Peter Bogdanovich film with Boris Karloff and early work from John Woo, Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. Peter discusses one of his all-time favorite musicals and Erik recalls a disturbing scene he used to see on cable all the time in a film from an unlikely director. Meg Ryan is cast against type and there is some overlap between Mark Wahlberg and Jason Statham in some new releases. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin team up again for a better effort than 80 For Brady and finally Kino has some more Burt Reynolds for you including one of his more entertaining works newly in 4K.

Peter Sobczynski is back to talk the latest and greatest in physical media. They range from the highs of Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series to the lows (in Peter’s estimation) of Ruben Ostlund’s latest. Indies you may have missed like Holy Spider and Return to Seoul. Both him and Erik Childress reflect on the world of one of television’s greatest sitcoms as well as a new Jackie Chan collection and a 4K of sci-fi David Bowie. They also take an extended look at some oddball offerings from Kino including a 1980s film remembered (by Erik at least) for its use of blackjack and credit cards as well as a most unusual Dennis Hopper film starring Jodie Foster with plenty of behind-the-scenes drama and a lot of on-screen weirdness.

Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy are back with the weekly movie reviews and they certainly have a lot in common. Maybe not with Pamela Anderson who is the subject of a new Netflix documentary (Pamela, A Love Story). Haley Bennett and Sam Riley are the latest exes to end up with the same booking (She Is Love). Noemie Merlant begins to unravel as a new mother (Baby Ruby) while Michelle Monaghan will do anything for her zombie son (Blood). A man tries to get across town to meet his movie partner (The Blind Who Did Not Want To See Titanic) and Jonah Hill is coming to Eddie Murphy’s dinner (You People). Finally in theaters this week, four legendary actresses try to get into the 2017 Super Bowl (80 For Brady) and M. Night Shyamalan tries to ward off the apocalypse with Dave Bautista. Could Knock at the Cabin be the first of Night’s films that Erik likes?

To give you a break from real-life family toxicity in the pageant world, we're diving deep into... fictional family toxicity! Hooray!
For the first time, we compared two different movies for our minisode: Monster in Law (2005) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). The latter is one of our favorite comedies, like, ever, and the other is... well, we hadn't seen it since we were kids, so it wasn't much of anything to us. Until we watched it again. And now we both hate it.
But why do we hate it? They're both films about unhealthy family dynamics, they're both comedies, they both have performers we love. What went wrong? To our surprise, the reasoning went deeper than we'd both suspected.
Featuring: the difference between miscommunication and cruelty, some charming Greek stereotypes, and a psychological profile of Kevin.

Richies, Thanksgiving is that time of year when we all sit down and count our blessings – and it’s safe to say that none of us would be anywhere without the love and support of our best friends. And that’s also true for our favorite celebs! From Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin to Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg – these celebrity BFFs prove that even the unlikeliest pairs can really survive everything Hollywood throws at them. And we are very thankful that we have them to talk about!
