"Home Alone" Starring Macaulay Culkin And Joe Pesci 12 20 23
It’s the holiday season and T.J. Rives and Jay Betsill help get you in the spirit with the 1990 classic “Home Alone” starring Macauley Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.

The guys break down the John Hughes/Chris Columbus film that saw elementary aged Culkin reach bonafide movie star status for his role as eight-year-old Kevin. Kevin must protect his house from a pair of burglars, when he is accidentally left home alone by his family who is flying across the Atlantic to Paris for Christmas vacation and featured the great chemistry between Pesci and Stern as the “Wet Bandits.”

So, place your order for a cheese pizza, while being careful not to spill the Pepsi, put on your best aftershave, sit back and relax in first class while leaving the kids in coach and revisit the top grossing movie for all of 1990, “Home Alone.”

    Taxation anti-virus

The gang is back after a protracted break between episodes and dove into the strange life of eccentric millionaire John McAfee. We examine his software career, fame, crimes, his life on the run from the US government, and his eventual demise. Next, we ponder what do you do with tax evaders? (18:00). Rob and Mike discuss how the mafia created the FBI and its impact on society (36:00). Finally, the show ends with a review of movies and a series of questions: What was Tom Hanks's best performance? Is Army of the Dead good? Joe Pesci is the best gangster. Why are documentaries awful?

Episode 68 - Once Upon A Time In America, Part 2

Episode 68 - Once Upon A Time In America, Part 2

    Part 2

This week, we watch the legendary Italian film makers final film. Clocking in at nearly 4 hours long (originally meant to be 6 hours), this film contains some of the most graphic content we’ve seen so far on the list. While we would find it hard to recommend to most people, its impossible to not be impressed by the cinematography, sets, and epic period piece details. Once Upon A Time In America (1984), directed by Sergio Leone.

Home Alone Part 2: Daniel Stern Fired, Production Shut Down, Joe Pesci's Swear Jar and getting John Williams

Home Alone Part 2: Daniel Stern Fired, Production Shut Down, Joe Pesci's Swear Jar and getting John Williams

"This is it! Don't get scared now."

At the start of production in Winnetka, Illinois, Home Alone seemed to have things ready to go with the entire production being done in a gym. But Daniel Stern would be fired early to be replaced by a Matlock actor. Also learn how Warners got mad that Home Alone would end up costing more then the live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Also hear about how Joe Pesci took inspiration from the Looney Tunes, how they got lucky with getting John Williams as a composer and why the film was in theaters all the way till June of the next year.

Home Alone Part 1: John Hughes, Script, Hiring Chris Columbus, and Casting a Culkin

Home Alone Part 1: John Hughes, Script, Hiring Chris Columbus, and Casting a Culkin

    "Peter! We slept in!"

John Hughes was in a point in his career where he would exit directing to focus on writing and producing. Though Uncle Buck would provide some help, it was actually a vacation where John got the idea. Learn how he wrote his script...almost as close as the film would come out.

Also learn how Chris Columbus would get the directing job even after a major flop. Oh, and how certain roles almost went to Jon Lovitz, Kelsey Grammar and even Chris Farley. Yep, THAT Chris Farley.
