This really wasn’t the plan for Cinema Royale this week, but somehow we fell into a rabbit hole of talking about old school sequels with some of our favorite actresses, such as Wild Things 2, Poison Ivy, and others.

Once we get our shit together we look at the latest crazy career turn for Nicolas Cage with Willy’s Wonderland. Plus reviews of To All the Boys: Always and Forever, and Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar, and we couldn’t let the latest episode of WandaVision slip by.

This week we’re joined by special guest Scott Menzel of We Live Entertainment as we look forward to our most anticipated films of 2021! Don’t worry, we still make time to talk about all of this week’s new releases including Outside the Wire, One Night in Miami, American Skin, The Marksman and the first new dose of Marvel we’ve had in a year, the Disney+ series WandaVision.

2020 may have been a complete disaster that only Roland Emmerich could love, but it wasn’t all bad. There was quite a lot of good out there in the movie world, and while it wasn’t enough to make everything better, there was enough to at least fill an hour of our show. Since we did the Worst of 2020 last week, Cinema Royale is back with the Best Movies of 2020. And for the first time ever, we didn’t just steal one another’s picks with the exception of one.

Can you really appreciate the best without acknowledging the worst? On this week’s episode of Cinema Royale, we look with shame at the movies that made an already-horrible year just that much worse. No highs on this list, nothing but hilariously dreadful lows. Some aspired to greatness, others reached for the lowbrow and grabbed it a little too effectively. However they got here, they’re here now and before we can look at the good, we gotta look at the bad that Hollywood had to offer in 2020, including at least one which is literally in the trash bin.

Merry Christmas! This holiday season our gift to you is…less of us! Well, by about 20 minutes. We’ve still got a full bunch of reviews that you can listen to while sitting by the fire with your cup of cocoa and plate of Christmas cookies. The big one, of course, is WONDER WOMAN 1984! Does it live up to the previous movie and do well enough at the box office to warrant a third?

No matter who wins we all lose this week as it’s two Adam Sandler and Netflix’s HUBIE HALLOWEEN vs. Robert De Niro’s WAR ON GRANDPA. One of these flicks is like a flaming bag of dog poo left on your front porch. The other like someone just egged your car.

Plus news on what’s left of the movie business, which ain’t a lot. Regal has shut down theaters, every movie you were looking forward to has fled to 2021 or 2022, and it’s pretty dire out there. It’s dark, cold, and scary. Hopefully we can cheer you up a little by talking about some easily hateable flicks.
