    38: Death - Erika Lloyd

Coincidences by definition are remarkable concurrences of events or circumstances without apparent casual connection. However there comes a point when it’s hard not to question if it’s something more. Was Erika Lloyd’s pandemic road trip plagued by bad luck and coincidences or was it the “something more” we fear?

Whitney Gardner: Western Oil Painter - Epi. 220, Host Dr. Mark Sublette

Whitney Gardner: Western Oil Painter - Epi. 220, Host Dr. Mark Sublette

So, the title of my podcast is Art Dealer Diaries, and I named it that because it's all about the people that come through my life coincidentally and also by design. Well, today happened to be one of those special coincidental days. An artist happened to come into the gallery to poke around the Maynard Dixon Museum and it was like, "Oh, I love your material."

I'd never known her,  never met her. I wasn't familiar with her work, but when I saw a portfolio of one Whitney Gardner, it just resonated greatly with me. I said, "Yeah, let's show your work if you want us to." And she was like, "Great." So that's how I met Whitney. She's quite unique and has her own voice that you can see when you look at her paintings.

Whitney's been living in and painting the Mojave Desert for 12 years. That's a hard subject to try and tackle and she's done a beautiful job. So then I said, "Let's go record a podcast if you want to?" And she said, "Yeah, let's do it." So it was very fun, and spontaneous, and I'm just thrilled to have her on board at the gallery.

So please enjoy, Whitney Gardner on episode 220 of the Art Dealer Diaries Podcast.
