If Keep Swinging had a movie poster, Jake Burger would be featured at the center of it. The Miami Marlins third baseman was drafted 11th overall in 2017 by the Chicago White Sox and signed for $3.1 million. What happened next is something no one could have predicted or even be able to prepare for. Burger suffered multiple ankle injuries shortly after making his professional baseball debut that led to 1,163 days without playing organized baseball. On this episode of Keep Swinging with Matt Stucko, Burger details his journey back to the ball field, mental health, the highs and lows and so much more that will leave you feeling inspired and motivated.

She was and still is the ultimate warrior and her son would later develop into one both on and off the mound. After an emotional hiatus from the Mariners, the boys return to discuss the team falling short of the playoffs, Cal Raleigh's comments about the org needing to do more, and the state of Mariners Twitter. They then go around the diamond to figure out what the 2024 squad could look like.
It’s that part of the season where records are falling, injuries are career changing, and so many playoff berths are still in play. Corbin Carroll and Julio Rodriguez are knocking down milestones for the young folks, Freddie Freeman shows for the older crowd, and Ronald Acuña Jr. is in a category all his own. Joey Votto uses his French (or French accent? We don’t know!) for the Children’s Theater of Cincinnati. Mark Vientos is heating up for the Hapless Mets at the same time Tommy Pham slams the team for their work ethic. Non-lawyer Pottymouth provides an intro to Immigration Law 101 in the context of Brusdar Graterol’s mother finally able to travel from Venezuela to see her son pitch for the first time in seven years. Patron saint of the show, Sean Doolittle, announced his retirement and remains a role model for using his celebrity to support and give voice to marginalized and under-represented communities. The St. Pete Rays announced a not-quite-but-close agreement to stay in St. Pete, incorporating “intentional equity initiatives” including affordable housing, minority/women-owned business hiring commitments and a boatload of public funding. TIckets are on sale for Dominican baseball at Citifield in November and the Eurobaseball Championship is happening now in the Czech Republic.

Shohei is done for the season, is this the last we've seen of him in an Angels uniform and is he still the unanimous AL MVP? Julio Rodriguez is back and he's made history as the Mariners compete for an AL West title... speaking of titles, can the Brewers actually win it all after their recent hot streaks? We discuss those things and a lot more on this episode of Pack the Brew!
