Episode 210 - REEL EXTRA: Junji Ito Maniac

It's weird, it's creepy, it's kind of gross at times - it's very Junji Ito. Early in 2023, Netflix launched a new anime dedicated to the story-telling style you know and love from the horror king himself. Featuring some familiar faces, as well as some stories you may not know, it's a compilation of macabre with some hits, some misses, and some icky bits to keep you up at night. If you're into his style, it's definitely worth a watch.

We haven't been doing many of these lately due to review specials, convention specials, etc. But we will try to get to doing more of them in the future if we can. Times are busy though! As usual, Jimmy recruits some of his favorite reviewer friends. Thanks to Ricky, Melissa and Therese! And Emily returns with the news which includes: a new GROOT series at Marvel, the DAWN OF DC initiative launches at DC Comics, SOUTH PARK returns and more.  Also, get a hold of us!

    Thanks for listening!

Episode 189 - Graphic Novelties: Dissolving Classroom

    Graphic Novelties: Dissolving Classroom

It's our last episode for spooky season, and we're capping off with a goopy, gross, funny, and poignent title in Dissolving Classroom - the most recent anthology from one of Cover B's favorites, Junji Ito. It's weird and over-the-top, but still does a great job of calling out the ongoing trend of disingenuous apologies we see and experience a lot of the time. Get your candy, light your pumpkin, and join us for another spooky time!

Bücher, Comics, Mangas, Graphic Novels: Sie alle koexistieren zurecht. Session 24 Horror in Anime & Manga. Junji Ito, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen.

Hello once again friends! This week we decided to delve into the horror scene in both Anime & Manga. We discuss the ever infamous works of Junji Ito such as "The Hanging Blimps", "Uzumaki", "Tomei" and more. Plus our favorite series that we consider fit into the horror genre with likes of "The Promised Neverland", "Parasyte", and "Deathnote" to name a few. We hope you join us for this spooky episode.

    Junji Ito

    Junji Ito

In today's episode, Jon and Liam are drenching themselves in the horrifying works of visionary manga artist and writer, Junji Ito.  Ito-san was famously scheduled to be involved in creating the art assets for the cancelled Silent Hills project, but perhaps his most beloved work is the deeply disturbing and utterly unique horror epic Uzumaki... find out if our intrepid hosts enjoyed spiralling into this gruesome creation enough to grant him a place in the (ahem) illustrious Hall Of Pain!
