Fund Manager Chat: Challenges in UK & European Funds Management - Steve Kenny, Kames Capital

Fund Manager Chat: Challenges in UK & European Funds Management - Steve Kenny, Kames Capital

In this in-depth podcast, Steve Kenny, Director of Wholesale Business at Kames Capital, examines some of the complex and difficult business challenges currently facing the U.K. and European mutual fund industry.

2017 was a year where many fund groups were dealing with Mifid 2 implementation, but there is also a raft of other regulatory considerations facing fund groups. The uncertainty posed by Brexit makes the issue of pan-European fund distribution yet more complex.

Mr. Kenny considers these issues within the framework of ongoing fund house and distributor consolidation, fee compression, costs and customer transparency. He also outlines how fund groups will evolve to become more competitive against passive investing and the evolution of fund groups as "capability" providers.

Steve is chatting with Jake Moeller, Head of Lipper UK and Ireland Research at Thomson Reuters in London on February 16, 2018.

    About Steve Kenny

Steve Kenny joined Kames Capital in 2001 and became Director of Wholesale Business in 2002.

Prior to joining Kames Capital, Steve worked at a national employee benefit consultancy and a life company in the national accounts team, before moving into mutual fund sales in 1996.

He has 30 years' experience in the financial services industry.
