    Christine 1983

    Christine 1983

Get in buddy! We’re talking about a beautifully tragic tale. A story so improbably perfect for all of us self-avowed cretins. It was born evil and has possessed every youth who’s watched it since. How about we all agree Christine is about as magnificent a movie as you’ll ever experience in October. Just ask Phil!

What else can I say? No shitter ever came between me and this movie. If they did, watch out.

    John Carpenter Part 1

    John Carpenter Part 1

On the 59th episode of the Slice By Slice podcast Jesse and Josh take a look at the Annabelle Trilogy. Recorded on 04/25/21.

HMSG Interview with Keith Gordon! "Dressed to Kill"

    HMSG Interview with Keith Gordon

Keith Gordon is a writer, actor and director. He worked with some of the biggest directors in his roles in Dressed to Kill, All That Jazz and Christine, and made his way into cult classic status in Static, The Legend of Billie Jean & Back to School. As a director, he's helmed such films as The Chocolate War, A Midnight Clear, Mother Night, Waking the Dead and The Singing Detective and has also directed many TV shows, including multiple episodes of Dexter, Homeland and Fargo. Julia and Teri were thrilled to get to hear some of Keith's incredible behind the scenes stories about Brian De Palma, Bob Fosse, John Carpenter, what it's like to move from an actor to director, his favorite Stephen King book and much more!

Cinemaball 14: The Legend of Billie Jean (1985)
On this very special episode of Cinemaball, we celebrate Ebony’s achievement of scoring the first proper goal in the history of the game with an examination of her goal film, the overlooked 1985 teen power ballad of a movie that is The Legend of Billie Jean. Our conversation covers the film’s noteworthy respect for its young heroes (and, by extension, its young viewers, too), the unique power of a female hero who disrupts the gender binary, and the role that male entitlement plays as a force of evil, among other things. As always, we each rate the film according to Ebony’s brother’s patented 100-star system, and then discuss the future of Cinemaball.

    Episode #2: A Beautiful Day

    Episode #2: A Beautiful Day
Andrew and Charlie discuss the Season 8 premiere of Dexter in the first "official" episode of Avenging Angels. Are the supporting characters being set up for important developments, or is it more of the same? Do the challenges offered by the new character of Dr. Vogel seem like a compelling direction for the show to take? Do the writers fully realize how they've developed Dexter's "code" in the past? And perhaps most important of all, is the new Dexter/Debra dynamic an appropriate one? Plus, Andrew and Charlie figure out which characters they'd like to see killed off and come up with a great idea for a spin-off show.
