    48 Hours, Part 2

    48 Hours, Part 2
This episode picks up where 48 Hours, Part 1 left off. We suggest you listen to them in order. When Aaron Quinn called the Vallejo police to report that his girlfriend Denise Huskins had been kidnapped, and went into the station for questioning, a detective told Aaron that he didn't believe him. When Denise was released after being held captive for about 48 hours, police didn't believe her either. It soon became clear that the police viewed Denise and Aaron as suspects, not victims. Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn’s book is Victim F. This episode was originally released in 2021. Criminal is going back on tour in February! We’ll be telling brand new stories, live on stage. Taken In Turkey: My Story (Part1)

In this week’s episode I will be sharing how I understand my story and how it all began for me when I was taken in Turkey in 2009. This story contains kidnapping, sexual assault, and violence. This is a very exciting story and SPOILER ALERT, I make it in the end! I’m here, thriving and healing. It's a fair amount of trauma and a ton of healing work featuring a number of modalities. Now this is only part 1 of my story so tune in next week to find out what happens next.

444: Jordan & Gabe | Kidnap Me Twice, Shame on Me

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, "Kidnap me once, shame on — shame on you. Kidnap me — you can't get kidnapped again." But Jordan doesn't know any better because he comes from Michigan, so he's actually been kidnapped twice. Here, Jordan tells the story of that second time.

Here, We Talk About the Time Jordan Got Kidnapped in Serbia:

    • Kidnapping victims don't always live to tell the tale. The reason Jordan is still alive after being kidnapped (twice) is due to the fact he saw security expert Gavin de Becker on Oprah discussing what to do in just such a seemingly unlikely situation.
    • After almost getting kidnapped in Mexico in 2000, how did Jordan find himself in a position to get kidnapped in Serbia in 2004?
    • How did Jordan escape whatever dire fate was surely awaiting him at the dreaded second location?
    • What are your best chances for staying alive if you ever find yourself in a similar, unenviable condition?

    432. When Your Safety Becomes My Danger

The families of U.S. troops killed and wounded in Afghanistan are suing several companies that did reconstruction there. Why? These companies, they say, paid the Taliban protection money, which gave them the funding — and opportunity — to attack U.S. soldiers instead. A look at the messy, complicated, and heart-breaking tradeoffs of conflict-zone economies.

255: Tommy Caldwell | The Push for the Path Upwards

Tommy Caldwell (@tommycaldwell1) has been called "arguably the best all-around rock climber on the planet" by National Geographic, and is the author of The Push: A Climber's Search for the Path.

What We Discuss with Tommy Caldwell:

    • How the confidence Tommy gained from climbing since age three transformed him from a shy, scrawny kid into a world-class athlete, author, and someone who can be interviewed on podcasts without fear.
    • Tommy's tried-and-true formula for getting better at coping with scary, potentially life-threatening situations.
    • How climbing is part endurance, part puzzle, and part chess strategy.
    • The differences between sport climbing, free climbing, and free soloing.
    • What it's like to get kidnapped by rebel extremists in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan when you're just trying to do a little climbing with your friends.
