159: She's not the type of girl you stop seeing. | Final Analysis (1992)

Well, in this film we didn't get a Final Analysis but boy did we get a whiplash of a story. Based on the movie poster I thought I was getting this racy erotic thriller and while we kinda did, we ended up getting baited and switched in a good way.

Me and Charles had a good first time watch with some surprising results. The fashion, the film noir structure, and the nod to Hitchcock we definitely noticed.

Off-topic rants include: 60 Days In, fav movie of the weeks from the 90210 casts during summer hiatus

    84 - Batman (1989)

    84 - Batman (1989)

    Ep. 025 - Curtis Hanson's LA Confidential (1997)

In our continuing "Movies That We Loved" series, Mike and Trevor will be discussing arguably one of the greatest film noirs of all time. Who are we arguing with? What are we arguing about? Why it's the 1997 Curtis Hanson crime drama masterpiece, LA Confidential, of course! Listen in for some backstory on the book, real life characters contained within the movie and some major differences between the book and the movie. Oh and we'll be giving our ratings if you care about that sort of thing.

Our journey through the filmography of Tim Burton continues. In part 1 of our Batman episode we talked the journey of Batman the character to our screens and this week we're talking the film's journey to screen, the film itself and so much more. Along with some great movie tangents there are tidbits all about the film, including Jack Nicholson's eye watering salary. Check it out now!

Batman (1989) - The Special Episode

Batman (1989) - The Special Episode

Bam! Pow! We have a supersized episode for you because we are covering one of our favorite superheroes: Batman!!! Our March Madness winner, Batman (1989), was a pop culture phenomenon that inspired a whole new love for Gotham’s Caped Crusader. AND we are so lucky to be joined by our resident comic book and superhero expert: Ben! Ben walks us through the world of Batman comic storylines and their relationship to on-screen portrayals of the Dark Knight (and to help prep for all Batman trivia needs). We discuss our ideal Bruce Wayne/Batman and Joker characteristics, why we like Batman’s villains so much, our thoughts on the controversial casting, our appreciation for Tim Burton’s vision, and more! Ben also bestows upon us his ~definitive ranking~ of Batman adaptations. Our Bat Signal is up and we can’t wait for you to take flight with us in the quest to defend our love for this Batman movie!

*NOTE: This episode contains explicit language and sensitive material

*NOTE FROM EMMA: At 5:35 “Catwoman” is meant to be said instead of “Batwoman”

    * NOTE FROM ISABELLA: Shout-out to the actor who plays the waiter falling over in the museum scene- you did an awesome job!

102: I'm made of ink, but I'm no dream. | Cool World (1992)

What a film to talk about when I've got a new guest host for the pod! Join me and my buddy Pete as we talk the totally weird but awesome, Cool World (1992) directed by Ralph Bakshi. As you could probably tell, this was originally slated for a 'rated R' release and the script went through multiple rewrites to garner that PG-13 rating.

We get into all the mess behind the scenes, discuss the many possible casting choices, and the kicking' soundtrack.

Off-topic rants include: stoner movies, great movie soundtracks, British sitcoms, and Stanley Kubrick.
