#112// Are you a Spirit-filled woman who's looking to launch and build a Kingdom business or ministry in the coming year, and you want some help on how to get started? A little over a year ago, I felt the Lord urging me to form a small collective of entrepreneurial women out of those already gathered inside The Jesus Girl Gang (my online discipleship mentorship) who wanted to build businesses that could ultimately fund Kingdom endeavors. He was calling me to gather the Luke 8 Ladies.
Have you ever read the portion of scripture in Luke 8, verses 1-3? It references a few women who traveled with Jesus and His disciples as He ministered in the cities and villages throughout the region. The story goes that they funded Jesus' ministry out of their own substance. Women . . . funding the work of the Lord in the earth in Biblical times!
This is the sort of collective of women God is calling me to gather right now: A group of women who want to fund the Lord's work in the earth today by planning, building, launching, growing and establishing successful businesses by following Biblical principles, and flowing income from these endeavors into projects and causes that build the His Kingdom. So I've gotta ask . . . Are you one of these women?
One hurdle I experienced in this last year as I considered this assignment was a considerable amount of doubt. I was doubtful that I was the girl for this job because I hadn't yet built my business and ministry to a size that I thought "qualified" me to help women in this area.
But the Lord spoke to me a couple months ago and said, "Erica, the ones I'm calling you to help are the ones who need to finally START and NOT STOP. The ones I want you to help are the ones who struggle with the details of how to get something going, and then they get overwhelmed when it's time to keep going without quitting. You are designed and equipped to help those women to vision, plan, start, build, launch, grow and establish the business I've placed in their hearts, and you can show them how to get to a consistent monthly income flowing that will grow as they faithfully continue." So what do you think I said to Him?
You KNOW I said YES! In this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I'm launching the Luke 8 Ladies Founders Offer. #105// Has God called you to operate both in business and in ministry at the same time? If you said "Yes!" then you, my friend, have something I like to call a "Biznistry" -- Business + Ministry.
Years ago I operated solely in the marketplace, working for a massive, publicly traded company in their tax accounting department. But then, after 12 years of being in that realm, God called me to start serving exclusively in ministry. I "retired" from my job at the age of 33 (I had a retirement party just so I wouldn't be tempted to go back!) and began putting all my efforts into ministry activities. That went on for a few years until I felt the Lord nudging me again, this time to become a certified holistic health coach. All of a sudden, I was back in the business sphere again!
As I stepped back into business, I heard God saying that I wasn't to do just one or the other -- ministry OR business -- but instead, I was meant to do them both simultaneously, together. He said, "It's all one thing, Erica!" In all honesty, this overwhelmed me at first, so I went to the Word to see if something like this was even possible. And there I found it -- Acts 18 where it tells us that Paul, the apostle and church planter, was also a tentmaker! Over the years, as I walked with the Lord while building my Biznistry, I began to understand why it was so valuable to the heart of God that I could operate in both places as though they were one thing. But I'll tell you something . . . it didn't come without some significant difficulties!
In this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm asking you the question -- "Have you been called to a biznistry, too?" And if you have, how are you feeling about that right now? Are you experiencing any roadblocks or significant hurdles to accepting the mantle, and stepping into the fullness of such an assignment? I'll share with you all the tough spots I ran into, and how I was able to get through them and keep moving into the fullness of my purpose of Christ.

#061// Multi-level marketing gets such a bad rap, even on it's own. But when someone in ministry steps into this business model, the negativity can go *next level* very quickly. My husband and I planted a church in Tampa ten years ago, and we co-pastor that church to this day. About six years ago, I stepped into a network marketing opportunity as part of the holistic health coaching business I was building. Almost immediately, the doubt crept in for me. Would I be able to honor the calling I had to pastor the people, while not misusing my authority or influence as I offered products and services to the public? What would people think if they saw me selling things out on the internet during the week, and then in the pulpit preaching on a Sunday? Truth be told, most of the things I feared the most during this season were things I made up in my own head!
