What Does the Bible Say About Apologies?

What Does the Bible Say About Apologies?

In this episode, Arnie and Fred talk about apologizing when we are wrong about something. We start out by looking at what Jesus said one must do if one is angry at his brother without a cause and why this is so important. We discuss why it is so important to be willing to admit wrongdoing and correct it. We look at a passage that indicates others can help us in this regard. We also note a passage that tells us we ought to accept others who are seeking to correct their own faults. There are three individuals who offered apologies for their wrong actions that we discuss. Their apologies differed in a number of ways, and we note them. Finally, we discuss several things that are also very important when it comes to apologizing.
Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy so you can verify what we are saying. There is a transcription of this Buzzsprout episode for your convenience.

    I Am the Good Shepherd

    I Am the Good Shepherd
Today in our series on the "I am the..." statements Jesus made as recorded in John we continue from last week's "I am the door..." that leads directly into "I am the Good Shepherd." Consider with us how all we like sheep need this Shepherd who knows intimately his sheep, protectively cares for them, and has died for them.

This Mom Knows with Jennifer Uren

This Mom Knows with Jennifer Uren

Jennifer Uren believes that you can do it all, just not by yourself. Through her website and podcast, This Mom Knows, she coaches and encourages mompreneurs to find the right systems, tools, and people – their Mom Team – to help and support them so they can be their best as both “mom” and “entrepreneur”.

Jenn is very familiar with trying to juggle and do all the things herself but too often found that it was at the expense of her family, especially relationship with her kids. She hit a breaking point five years ago when she and her husband experienced a surprise adoption of a sibling set (100% unexpected – you can hear about it on her podcast). This started her down a life-giving path of transformation as she learned how to ask for help, offer help, and lean into systems to simplify and create space in her own life – and she wants to help you do that, too.
She and her family have recently left the hustle and bustle of the Chicagoland area and are enjoying discovering their new hometown in Northwest Indiana.

If GOD Knows All Then Why.....

If GOD Knows All Then Why.....

We say God is omniscient, meaning one who knows all things.  The word omniscient is nowhere in the bible but the inference of God knowing all things in prevalent from Genesis to Revelation.

Psalm 147:5  Great is our Lord, abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.
1 John 3:20 “for God is greater than our heart and knows all things”

There is no doubt lingering in regards to  God’s level of knowledge, however, the impact or the influence of His knowledge and our humanity rears up many valid questions.

I was recently asked if God knows everything then why pray, why does He ask questions, is our destiny already predetermined and last but not least if God knows everything does that negate our free will?

This morning I prayed as asked by the Holy Spirit to guide me to explain this in the simplest way possible.

First let’s talk about how intimidating it is when we truly embrace that  God knows our every thought. Iur angry thoughts, lustful thoughts, vengeful ideas, secret greed, and hidden coveting. God also knows our secret longings, hopeful desires, and private dreams. And He understands.

Sometimes we are harder on ourselves than God is. Psalm 103:14 tell us that He knows we are frail humans made from dirt and born with a sin nature.

However, at the same time we can also be too easy and carefree and not hold ourselves accountable regarding our thoughts. The bible tells us so a man thinketh so is he, which tells us our thoughts ought not be set on the things outside of the will and ways of God,

In Colossians 1:21 it speaks of our minds alienating us and making us enemies of God.  You know our ancestors used to say don’t go anywhere you don’t want to take God, because he is always with you, well this morning I am telling you don’t fix your minds on things and thoughts you don’t want to have an open conversation with God about.

Let’s talk about the  core issue that remains on the table.  If God knows in advance how we will act, then most perceive that this means we cannot act other than in accordance with God's foreknowledge, so then we  cannot possibly have free-will.  Not so!

Red Letter Days: He Knows Us | Christopher Alton | 18/07/21 | Online

Red Letter Days: He Knows Us | Christopher Alton | 18/07/21 | Online

The continual refrain of Christ in His letters to the churches, is “I know”. He knew each church and its members intimately. Not as one who had simply left them behind as He returned to the Father. The letters of Revelation are personal and passionate correspondence from Jesus to those whom He loved dearly. As we consider what He knows of each church, much of what Jesus says will resonate with each of us in different ways. This is because He knows us intimately as well – our passions, desires, plans, struggles and weaknesses. He came not only to understand us, but to fill us with His very own fulness and empower us. He knows the beautiful design God has for each of us, and has sent His Spirit to repair and restore, shape and to set us back on track.

    Psalm 11: The Lord Sees

    Psalm 11: The Lord Sees

    Psalm 11

The wicked heart whispers that God doesn't see and doesn't take into account. But a foundation that keeps the righteous faithful is knowing that no matter what it looks like in the moment, the Lord does see. The Lord does take account. The foundations are not actually shattered. Edwin and Andrew talk about this great foundation that helps us stay faithful to the Lord even when things seem to be just getting worse.
