Yes, it's a clip show!  After 100 episodes we thought it would be nice to chat (and giggle) about our favourite episodes, and our not-so-best bits.  It's nice. Give it a go.

    KRULL

    KRULL
In the face of total annihilation by the omnipotent Beast's unstoppable hordes of Slayers, two hostile neighbouring nations form an alliance against the common enemy. However, the otherworldly adversary is all-powerful, and before long, a handful of mismatched defenders are willing to walk a shitload to ensure the land's future. In this suicide mission, the magical, five-edged weapon known as the Glaive is their only chance of survival. There is a Cyclops, Giant White Spider, Red Lava Water, National Parks, a man who has a specific set of skills (one of them is not taking care of his family), a guy who sells candy, and a man that once dressed like a nun. Join Dan and Brock as they gush about how cool this movie really is!

SWORDS & SORCERY in the 1980's

Welcome to episode #76 of My Haunted Head.  With spring in the air, it's well and truly sandal season!  So to celebrate, we’re gonna talk about a group of films which don’t get nearly enough respect - the sword and sandal films of the 1980’s.   Get ready for long-haired barbarian warriors, prophecies, maidens in distress, fallen kingdoms, epic quests, evil priests, mystical creatures, enchanted swords, extra-terrestrials, bands of misfit fighters and spell-casting demigods.

Of ja... tovenaar...

The Krull Movie - The Classic Fantasy Film You (Probably) Never Saw. Best Fantasy Movies BONUS Episode on Binge-Watchers Podcast.

Yes we are here to debate why you should watch K-R-U-L-L,  Krull with dashing Ken Marshall, flaming horses, and a cyclop that knows what’s up. It might be the greatest fantasy movie of all time that no one saw.

This episode includes a PSA about toilet etiquette for ladies, the curse of celebrity deaths David Warner, Paul Sorvino, and Yoko Shimada. We remember these actors and take a minute to discuss Time After Time, Time Bandits, Star Trek 6, and Shogun among others these 3 have done. And our excitement for an Evil Dead animated show,

Tonight’s movie is Krull.  A prince and a fellowship of rogues including bandits and a cyclops set out to rescue his bride from a fortress of alien invaders led by THE BEAST. To slay the Beast they must find a magical relic called the Glaive - this is KRULL, of course.

And Dangerous Dave voicemails Jordan Savage and Johnny Spoiler a dangerous list of movie trivia.

    Krull (1983)

    Krull (1983)

Can you really call yourself a retro movies podcast without reviewing the epic '80s film flop that refuses to die? At long last, Shat The Movies is digging its glaive into "Krull."

On paper, this movie should have been the next "Star Wars." It has a massive budget, plush set design, a rousing James Horner musical score, freakin' lasers, a handsome lead, a strong princess, a wise mentor, mystical powers, an impenetrable stronghold, galactic consequences, a legendary weapon and Liam Neeson. But "Krull" showed just how hard it is to bring fantasy concepts to the silver screen.

In this episode, the Shat Crew discusses how the "Krull" movie posters misled Big D, how less is more when it comes to special effects, why thieves and brawlers are so eager to join perilous quests, why geography matters in movies, and whether "Krull" delivered the worst action scenes in Shat The Movies history.

EPISODE 297: COMMUNIST MUTANTS FROM SPACE

EPISODE 297: COMMUNIST MUTANTS FROM SPACE

Any old show could give you mutants, but how many can offer you COMMUNIST mutants? 2021 had Covid spinoffs, insurrections and climate upheavals. 2022 has communist mutants. Seems about right.

In episode 297, we played the 1982 weirdly named Starpath game COMMUNIST MUTANTS FROM SPACE. Because with a title like that, how could we not?

    EPISODE 296: KRULL, THE MOVIE

    EPISODE 296: KRULL, THE MOVIE

It's the last episode of 2021! And in honor of our laziness tradition, for the last episode we put away the games and rest our story-thinking brains, and kick back with a movie.

This time, we're watching the 1983....cult?...classic KRULL, which inspired the Atari game eagle-eared listeners will remember we talked about in episode 295 Was KRULL a krully good movie or krully bad? Listen to find out.

And also so I don't have to do as much research  in keeping with tradition, I have a guest for this episode! Screenwriter and patreon supporter Patrick McCarthy joins me for the...fun? Again, listen to find out!

    EPISODE 295: KRULL, THE GAME

    EPISODE 295: KRULL, THE GAME

ATARI BYTES episode 295 is all about KRULL, Atari's adaptation of the 1983 sci-fi movie...classic?...of the same name. The game, like the movie, has you, the hero, trying to defeat The Beast, with a star-shaped "glaive", save the princess and defend the galaxy.

So, is this game a five-pointed romp, or a pointless exercise, times five? We'll find out.

    Original Short Story: FIRE HORSE

Thanks to Kevin McLeod at Incompetech.com for creative commons use of his songs "Pinball Spring", "Reformat" and "Take a Chance".

Thanks to Sean Courtney for the Storytime Theme.
