Julian Sands (Warlock, Boxing Helena, Warlock: The Armageddon)

Julian Sands (Warlock, Boxing Helena, Warlock: The Armageddon)

We've always loved Julian Sands, and were saddened to hear of his disappearance and the revelation of his passing in 2023. To celebrate his life and career, we discuss a personal favorite, along with a pair of campier entries that, if nothing else, are fun to laugh about.

What happens when a warlock escapes the clutches of death, travels through a portal three centuries into the future, to locate three parts of The Grand Grimoire to undo creation? Well, you'd better believe that a determined witch-hunter follows to try to stop him! Julian Sands is Warlock (1989)!

Not into warlocks and all that stuff? Well, how about Julian Sands as an infuriatingly meek surgeon who opportunistically uses a hit-and-run accident to imprison, and physically alter,  the woman of his dreams? Probably not a particularly healthy thing to do. It's a story of obsession and possession, with some questionable acting. But hey, if Boxing Helena (1993) is a match for your fetish, you do you.

And then from there, if you thought that the acting in Boxing Helena was bad, get ready for some of the most remarkably poor acting you have ever seen from a complete cast. Thankfully, Julian Sands returns as the warlock, the one marginal bright spot. Though it probably would have helped if these actors had some decent dialogue to work with. However, as it stands, Warlock: The Armageddon (1993) is probably best used as a device to torture your enemies.

Episode 40 - Robocop (1987) - Full Review Movie Podcast

Robocop was a go-to watch as a teenager with so many quotable lines and over-the-top violence it was the perfect mix for young men. This latest watch we were able to see it in a different light allowing us the perfect opportunity to discuss this action classic.

RoboCop is a classic science fiction action movie from 1987, directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller as Alex Murphy, a terminally wounded cop who returns to the force as a powerful cyborg haunted by submerged memories.
The story follows Murphy's transformation into RoboCop, a cybernetic mix of spare human parts and Motor City technology. As he adjusts to his new identity, he must battle crime in Detroit while struggling to remember his past life. The film is an exciting blend of action, drama, and comedy that has become a cult classic over the years.
The special effects are impressive for its time, with RoboCop's robotic movements particularly impressive. The soundtrack is also great, featuring memorable tracks like "RoboCop Theme" and "You Can't Take the Sky from Me".
Overall, RoboCop is an entertaining movie that stands the test of time. It's an exciting blend of action, drama, and comedy that will keep you entertained from start to finish. If you're looking for a classic science fiction action movie with plenty of thrills and laughs along the way, this is definitely one to check out!

In this week’s episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Stuart Gordon’s dystopian science fiction action film, Fortress! In addition to the movie discussions, Alex’s next movie, Ninja 4: Into the NinjaVerse, has officially hit the same release issues as all of his other movies. Tim and Matt think Alex is being used for an elaborate tax evasion scam and say he should quit before things get any worse. Is Alex going to take their advice?! Listen now to find out!

TITLE VERSUS TITLE: Fortress (1985) vs. Fortress (1992)

TITLE VERSUS TITLE: Fortress (1985) vs. Fortress (1992)

Forget about any other movie that might share this title! The battle for supremacy is right here, right now. First up, Rachel Ward and her one-room Australian schoolhouse are invaded by masked kidnappers. Can the schoolchildren come of age, all too quickly, in a struggle for survival to escape? Rural Australia is a dangerous place in Fortress (1985). Then, it's time for international action sensation, Christopher Lambert! He and his wife are not particularly fortunate to be pregnant, it seems, as they find themselves in a futuristic prison in the year 2017! Be careful to avoid that yellow line and definitely stay away from the red! Or your tummy might just explode from the effects of that horrible intestinator that they implanted inside your body! Wait, what? This is the world of Stuart Gordon's Fortress (1992). And then from there, the Common Craig and Nicole decide the victor! Which is the last movie standing, earning the right to keep its title???
