    The Kuru Cannibal Disease

    The Kuru Cannibal Disease

Join Kelli as she talks about a prion disease called Kuru. Prion diseases occur when misfolded proteins duplicate and clog up the brain, and cause things like Mad Cow Disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, and Kuru. Kuru was specific to the Fore people of Papua New Guinea, and at its peak, killed 200 women and children people a year. But to get Kuru, they must have consumed the brains of the infected dead...

Let's dive deep into the Fore peoples, prion diseases and more cannibalism.

The history of cannibalism around the world - Part 1

As a normal person living in the 21st century, you probably would say cannibalism is totally not okay.... but as a normal person roughly 800,000 years ago, you would argue otherwise. Back then you would say, human flesh had nutrients to cure any wound, ailment, or disease. It was the miracle meat that many across the world found unexpectedly nourishing.

S01E31 | Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

S01E31 | Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
