On this episode I have the pleasure of speaking with Mark Martinez, founder of the Martinez Tool Company. Mark is the designer of the M-1 and M-4 Titanium hybrid hammers and has a long history of tool innovation and design. 

He has also worked as a builder for most of his life and has great insight into what it means to be a professional carpenter. 

We’ll start our conversation by learning about Marks involvement with the big brand tool companies, to better understand what has changed and what has not in hammer design over the decades.

 Next, we’ll dive into the metallurgy of Titanium and discuss its benefits and limitations as a material used in tool design.  

Later, we’ll discuss Mark’s inspiration for designing the M-1 framing hammer and how swinging the M-1, not only makes you more efficient but why it’s good for your health too.   

And we’ll end our conversation by discussing what sets an Alpha apart from the rest on a jobsite and what Mark means when he says, “it is better to work from your heart, and not from your wallet”.

This is a second episode in which Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about what to pray for. We begin where we left off in the last episode talking about praying for boldness in teaching and preaching the gospel.  Next we note that Jesus prayed for more laborers to work in propagating the gospel and that is certainly something we ought to pray for. James says we ought to pray for wisdom and we look at that. Jeremiah started to make excuses when the Lord was sending him to those in Judah and we ought to avoid doing the same thing concerning the need for us to go to those who are lost in sin. We look at Solomon's attitude when the Lord confronted him as the new king of Israel. We find a number of prayers offered by Jesus and others for protection from evil and note this is something we can pray for also. It was dangerous in the first century to travel from place to place.  We see prayers offered for the safety of those traveling, which we can also pray for.  Deliverance from foes is also discussed for we know there are those who do not want us to teach the truth to others.  We end this episode by looking at the first passage relating tp praying for peace. In our next episode, we will begin by looking at several other passages mentioning prayers for peace. Take about 30 minutes to follow our discussion. We’ll open todays conversation by learning about Marks efforts to combat the war of misinformation that is being waged daily in American in order to undermine our faith in the democratic process as well as deter union members from electing government officials that truly understand and value what organized labor unions provided for this country. 

Next, well investigate the origins and tools of misinformation campaigns and why they have proven to be so effective in manipulating not only the minds of the masses, but their emotions as well. 

Later we’ll dive into why it is so easy to push facts aside when you are passionately invested in something and how important it is to rely on reputable sources with proven track records when doing your fact checking.  

And we’ll end our conversation by understanding the importance of having respectful, thoughtful and caring discussion when talking with others who have viewpoints different than your own. And how this investment can help build the bridges needed to better all of our lives as union workers.
