The Confusing Benefits of Social Dancing: A Wine Chat with a New York Bachata Dancer

The Confusing Benefits of Social Dancing: A Wine Chat with a New York Bachata Dancer

Host Danny Meese and social dancer Annie of Bachata Fusion NYC discuss social dance, including Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba, Latin Dance in general, Zouk, East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing. They discuss social dance and its relationship with health, community, dating, breaking bread, culture, and how much Western culture in general is missing a solid standard social dance.

They reluctantly review a bottle of Acinum Prosecco (Italian Sparkling Wine) from Veneto, Italy. Danny shows Annie how to properly hone a chef's knife - in this case his Shun Fuji 6" knife - with a steel honing rod.

Cultural Immersion: Exploring Dominican Bachata (Interview with Carlos Cinta) ♫ 19

Cultural Immersion: Exploring Dominican Bachata (Interview with Carlos Cinta) ♫ 19

This week, we're continuing our theme of cultural immersion in our conversation with Carlos Cinta.  Carlos is dance instructor, DJ, and music editor.  He's most known in the dance community for his expertise in musicality, especially when it comes to Bachata music from the Dominican Republic and staying true the genre's roots.

He's not known for biting his tongue and definitely doesn't shy away from controversy in this conversation.  We talk about everything from how he became so passionate about Bachata to cultural appropriation.

He also shares who is his favorite Bachata artist and talks about a unique opportunity if you want to learn more about the Dominican Republic and be completely immersed in the culture.
