Have you ever not done something because of your fear of failure?  "What if I'm not good at this? I've never done this before. What if I can't do it?"

Billionaire entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist, Sara Blakely's dad had a tradition of asking her and her brother "What did you fail at today?" at the dinner table.  This encouraged the Blakely's spirit of adventure toward success.  I remember a talk she gave to one of our masterminds and the feeling was that she didn't want to ever fail at trying. Not having a "Fail" story at dinner, was way worse than not succeeding at something where you were pushing outside of your own comfort zone.

Jana and I call this, "Getting into the STRETCH ZONE". 

We discuss a parable for about a boy and his grandfather.  We talk about Garrett McNamara and surfers chasing the 100 foot wave.  Surfing monster waves is all about overcoming fear of failure.

September 11, 2001 changed our lives and our world forever. It is the one day each year that we all come together, regardless of our backgrounds, and remember the horrific acts of that day. 
But what happened on September 12, 2001? That is the day we began healing as a nation but it also showed our differences. 

In this episode, I talk about my experience post 9/11, as a PoC, and how it impacted the parenting of my 4 children. 

By educating ourselves, we can learn so much from each other and begin to break down these social barriers.

By learning from people in life more experienced than us, we can live in the present with more hindsight and self-awareness. This might sound a bit dark, but this episode is extremely uplifting as we can learn to live our best lives - completely authentic to who we really are and what we really want. Learn from others.
