When you think of Green Bay, I’ll bet you think of the Packers and Lambeau Field. Everytime we visit Green Bay, I am reminded that there is so much more to this great city than just football. Don’t get me wrong, we are huge Packer fans! (Hayden has a tattoo to prove it!) But Green Bay is underrated as a destination as a whole. Besides all of the Packer related fun, the food is great and the activities seem to be never ending!

It was a death of a thousand self-inflicted paper cuts, with no real egregious errors, just too many little mistakes that prevents a young team like the Green Bay Packers from pulling off the upset against the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers. But as the Packers lick their wounds, there's a bright future ahead for them.  The future isn't so bright for defensive coordinator Joe Barry, who was released from his coaching responsibilities on Wednesday, leading the Packers to do another search for the answer for the talent-laden but ever-underachieving defense. "When all the laughter dies in sorrow…” While the end of the Packers season is not as fraught as the Lance Rentzel memoir, it certainly stung. But why? Green Bay was playing with the proverbial “house money,” was it not? The post-season was a surprise gift, right? So, shouldn't this one be easily set aside as just a learning experience on the way to certain improvement next season and a string of playoff appearances thereafter? Like many Packers fans, Chris and Dave struggle with accepting the loss in that manner, knowing that the Niners game — and another appearance in the NFC Championship Game — was there for the taking…and that the future is far from certain.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Chris and Dave plan to do a “Season Wrap” pod in a few weeks. The boys are tentatively scheduled to record that one the week after the Super Bowl, so look for it sometime after February 15.

Jordan Love wasn't just good on Sunday as the Packers upset the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs...he ended up with a perfect passer rating, as Aaron Jones ran for another 100+ yards and Joe Barry again salvaged his job for another season. No one expected this, but we all hoped and prayed for it. Now, the Cinderella Packers head to the next dance, this time to our playoff nemesis, the San Francisco 49ers. Packers fans unwrapped a late Christmas gift in the form of an overwhelming Green Bay victory over what appeared to be a stunned and stumbling Dallas team. Chris and Dave are beyond surprised, preferring instead to just lay back and enjoy it, particularly as a date with San Francisco is looming on Saturday night. While the ride may well be coming to a sobering impact with the wall of reality this weekend, the fellas are delighted with the way the Packers' season has rebounded after a 2-5 start and excited about what the future might hold in an increasingly competitive NFC North.

In what should have been an easy win against the worst team in the league, Joe Barry's defense came within a millisecond of collapsing and going to overtime with the Carolina Panthers. While a win is a win, there's plenty of fallout from the game, not the least of which is the suprising one-game suspension of cornerback Jaire Alexander. Five weeks ago, we had buried the Green Bay Packers playoff chances as nothing more than a fantasy, as be obliged ourselves to just look out for "growth" for the rest of the 2023 season.

And then, the Packers beat the defending champs in prime time, securing a spot--for the moment--as the NFC's seventh seed with five games to go.
