Daring to risk: finding our purpose in a turbulent world with Maggie Ostara.

Daring to risk: finding our purpose in a turbulent world with Maggie Ostara.

What do we do when the world isn't working for us? When our every fibre rages against the machine and our place in it?   Maggie Ostara talks about her own path from a high-flying academic career, through to a life of clear purpose and contribution that has authenticity, integrity and power.

Maggie Ostara, PhD left her job as the Director of Women’s and Gender Studies at Columbia University when she realised she’s not meant to work for anyone else. Twenty five years later at the height of of the pandemic, she created the Eight Pillars of Feminine Sovereignty and the six Feminine Sovereign Archetypes and then organised and hosted the online Women Evolving Our World Conference (and upcoming podcast).

She is committed to helping people from all walks of life to connect deeply with the flow of life, to listen to the inner wisdom of their own bodies, and to find their own empowerment, authority, agency and resilience.

Maggie says: “Now is the time for those of us who’ve been clearing our out-dated belief systems and building our skills and wisdom in the energetic and emotional realms to step forward and take our place among the leaders of today. For too many years, those who claim leadership in our world have valued profit and personal gain over the well-being of the majority of the human world, not to mention all the other beings with whom we share this planet. We are transforming and upgrading what it means to be a leader in alignment with the More Life principle: more life to all and less to none. I invite you to take the next step forward -- whether that’s simply in your own life, or in your family, community, neighbourhood or in your work in the world – shining out your values, your radiance, your compassion and your vision of the world you want to live in. Together we truly can make a difference!”

Maggie has a thriving YouTube channel, teaches online courses, works with clients individually and in groups, provides business consulting, and particularly loves guiding Change Agents expand their body of work  and its influence globally. She lives in occupied Pomo territory in Northern California with her non-binary 20 year old and her black feline familiar.

In this episode, we explore what it takes to let go of the restrictions of the conventional world, and listen to the quiet urgings of the inner voice that pushes us to be other than our conditioning or society's expectations.  With clarity and courage, she charts a course to a sense of self-compassion, self-awareness and connection to the flow of life that brings clarity to her life's purpose - and then shares the core of what she does in a way that makes it universally accessible.   At the end, she offers a gift to Accidental Gods listeners, so that you, too, can share what the learning she offers.

Biblical Literacy and Why it Impacts Us with Rachel Baker

Biblical Literacy and Why it Impacts Us with Rachel Baker

Welcome to the Thought Vault! Today, I have a special guest with me, Rachel Baker. She is a  Writer, Pastor's Wife, Mama, and Women's Ministry Director.

I invited Rachel to the show because she had an article published that struck a chord with me about Biblical Literacy and the importance it should be to us as believers.

I personally have been on my own journey discovering more about Bible history, and theology. It has become GLARINGLY obvious how imperative learning to understand the Bible on my own has on my daily life with Jesus.

In this corner of the web, I am focused on helping us all improve our lives physically, mentally, and SPIRITUALLY! To have a well rounded life, we have to focus on our relationships with Christ and have intentional habits that push the relationships deeper. Knowing what our Bible says and the literal context behind each verse makes the Bible really come alive and make more connections.

In this episode we talk about:

1- How a theological view of the Bible can deepen and transform your life

2- Knowing what the Bible doesn’t say is just as important

3- Best practices for getting started with Biblical Literacy

This conversation is encouraging and offers great insight on steps for improving our relationship with Christ and how Biblical literacy makes a difference in our lives. When we are deepening our relationship with Christ, we are improving the overall flow of our mindset and intention for living life DAILY! This is something that shouldn’t be overlooked and makes a huge impact on living a life for Christ!

The Burden to Better with Heather Creekmore

The Burden to Better with Heather Creekmore

HEATHER CREEKMORE is a podcaster, author and speaker. Her first book Compared to Who? encourages women to uncover the spiritual root of body image issues and find freedom.

Her new book, The Burden of Better, offers women a journey into the depths of God's grace to find a way off the treadmill of constant comparison. Heather has been featured on Fox News, Huff Post, Morning Dose, Church Leaders, For Every Mom, along with dozens of other shows and podcasts. But she's best recognized from her appearance as a contestant on the Netflix hit show, Nailed It. Heather and her fighter-pilot-turned-pastor husband, Eric have four children and live in Austin, Texas.

I love the  subtitle of The Burden to Better, which is “ How a Comparison Free Life Leads to Joy, Peace, and Rest”

Some of the questions Heather and I tackled in this episode:

    • What daily tips do you utilize to help buffer the tendency to compare (hello, social media, haha)

    • How does comparison que us to the areas we may need to rely on God more?

    • In what ways have changing your habit of comparison improved your relationships?

    • Talk on how comparison can spiral into real mental and even physical health challenges by igniting for example, obsessive thinking and critiquing ourselves in unhealthy ways which changes how we feel, think, and respond to our circumstances.

This conversation was so insightful and needed in this time. There is true rest found in living comparison-free!  Please be sure to checkout Heather on instagram and on her website. Be sure to grab her book too!

Shifting Gears from Autopilot to Conscious, Intentional Living with Stephanie Dawn Elizabeth

Shifting Gears from Autopilot to Conscious, Intentional Living with Stephanie Dawn Elizabeth

Stephanie Dawn Elizabeth is an Intuitive Transformation Coach and the Host of Made of Magic: The Podcast. She's on a mission to change the idea that the magic we seek is somewhere outside of ourselves. She's here to help you awaken, embody, and amplify the magic you ALREADY have within you.

I personally have been soaking up all of Stephanie's intuitive and groundbreaking work for years now. It just so happens that when I began on my journey of self love and self growth, I somehow found her and listened to my very first podcast. I then experienced my first life coaching session with her. To this day, I am still doing her Magic Morning routine and journal prompts. She was a huge reason I believed in my own worth and voice and ended up starting a podcast of my own. So it was an honor to finally have her as a guest on my own show!

Stephanie allowed me to pick her brain on all things spirituality, manifestation, and intuition. She shares what it looks and feels like to be living in autopilot versus conscious, intentional living with your soul turned on. We discuss nuance to multiple spiritual concepts and dive into the harms of spiritual bypassing.

In this episode, we cover the following talking points:

    • Stigmas, misconceptions, & fears around spirituality
    • What intuition & inner guidance means and feels like for her
    • Manifestation & intentionality
    • Distinction between feelings of intuition vs. anxiety, fear, ego, or trauma
    • Living in autopilot vs. your soul turned on
    • Spiritual bypassing & the harms of 'good vibes only' spirituality
    • The ability to hold multiple truths at the same time
    • Nuance of law of attraction or manifestation
    • Questioning your beliefs & being open to new perspective

    How To Live Motivated

    How To Live Motivated

In today’s episode we talk about MOTIVATION! I struggle with motivation. I overthink, and suffer (yes, suffer) from Perfectionism and these two things are HUGE motivational blocks. We all have dreams, and goals that we want to achieve no matter the scale, but do you keep finding yourself no further along year after year? Are you constantly resetting the “resolution” clock every New Years???

ME!! I’ve been there, so let’s dive into what motivation is and how we can get more of it!

What is motivation >> Motivation is the energy and/or reason to act or behave in a certain way.

The most powerful and domineering section of our brain is structured around our survival and is very impulsive, always looking for the easy way out. And you’ll always be prone to blindly follow its lead, until you understand why and how it works. And decide to do it differently

Our brains are composed of three main sections that function at three different levels & we dive into what each area is responsible for:

    • Low-level or Reptilian Brain
    •
    • Mid-level, or Mammalian Brain (Limbic System)
    • High-level, or Human Brain (Neocortex)

Although these three sections are very distinct and do very different things, they do have a synergistic relationship and communicate between each other, holistically sharing responsibilities.

So why is it that we prefer pizza over salad or broccoli? Why do we resist doing that grueling workout? Or why do we spend countless hours on our mobile devices, or watching TV? Because our most powerful motivational and emotional drivers in our brain reside in our mid-level “mammalian” brain, our Limbic System. And our actions at this level are motivated by three deeply rooted survival instincts…

These three instincts have been coined the “Motivational Triad”, and it is crucial to learn and understand what they are and the effects they have on us, and what to do should we need to overcome their powerful habits.

Tune in to the episode to learn ALL ABOUT IT!

Setting Personal Boundaries with Raven Robinson

Setting Personal Boundaries with Raven Robinson

    { Use promo code: WAKE for $5 off The Way Thru Boundaries Workbook }

Raven Delana is the Founder, Strategist and Coach at The Way Thru. She works to support your creative vision as a mirror to help you see your blind spots, a magnifying glass to bring your vision into focus, and a spotlight on your shadows so that you can do the work required up-level your creative venture and contribute to your community in meaningful ways.

With over 15 years of experience developing marketing and operational strategies for solo business owners, Raven is on a mission to help other perfectly imperfect visionaries work through the barriers and get their work into the world using mindful practices such as self-care, meditation, and yoga.

In this episode, we dissect boundaries and the work and conversations around boundary setting. Boundaries sometimes get a negative reputation (for lack of better words) but I learned so much from Raven during this discussion and would hope you listen in with an open mind eager to learn as well. Raven takes us through the following:

    • Myths, misconceptions, and stigmas around what boundaries are
    • Countering those misconceptions to define what boundaries actually are
    • Defining the differences between porous, rigid, and healthy boundaries
    • Framework for boundary setting
    • Getting clear on your values
    • Listening to your body when it comes to boundaries
    • Consequences vs. punishment
    • Verbal and non-verbal boundary setting
    • How to have those hard conversations around boundaries
    • Honoring other people's boundaries

Integrity + Self Advocacy = Boundaries

"My definition of integrity is when all of the things about you match up -- your thoughts, your actions, your beliefs, your value set -- all of these things should align. When that happens, you then have to advocate for yourself based on those things and that's when you begin to set boundaries." -Raven Robinson (quoted from this episode)
