    In this episode Elizabeth speaks with Angela Bell, the National Manager of Ethical Clothing Australia, an accreditation body commonly known as ECA.

    At ECA, Angela reports to a committee of management that is made up of employer, business and union representations from the textile, clothing and footwear industry.

    Angela spent the early years of her career working in media and communications before moving into corporate and environmental sustainability.
    Her various roles have included working as a media advisor for a Minister of the Crown;
    she has worked for the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012, which was set up to oversee the sustainability elements of the London Olympic Games,
    she has worked at the Foundation for Young Australians, and for many years before joining ECA she worked for a national law firm overseeing their corporate communications and social responsibility work.
    While working at the firm Angela completed a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact at Melbourne Business School.

    Leila, who until recently, was the General Manager at Australian fashion accessories label Helen Kaminski and a Member of the Board of Directors of HKJC - a Tokyo based joint venture company with Yagi Tsusho Limited, has a background in Economics and Accounting and over 15 years’ experience in luxury and premium brand management and development across APAC, Europe and North America. She has worked with organizations such as Arthur Anderson, The United Nations, Prada and Luxottica and led teams in Sydney, Auckland, London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

    Pru has 20 years’ experience in the Australian PR, Digital & Marketing landscape.
    She started her career as Brand Manager for Sportsgirl before co-founding Two Birds Talking in 2006, which ultimately became Australia’s number one 'fast fashion' PR agency.

    In 2015, Pru went on to create One Daydream PR, taking the agency from strength to strength and working with some of the world’s biggest global brands including; Mercedes-Benz, Sephora, The Body Shop, Vegemite, IT Cosmetics & Ole Henriksen just to name a few.

    In this episode Elizabeth speaks with Renae James, the Founder of Papinelle Sleepwear.

    Renae began honing her entrepreneurial drive from an early age.
    She always had a strong desire to be in the fashion industry so started her journey studying Fashion Design at the University of Technology Sydney, and graduated with Honours.

    Like many Australian designers, Renae launched Papinelle at the Paddington Markets in 2003 with sleepwear designs that quickly brought retail and media attention.
    Renae opened her first Papinelle boutique on Oxford Street in Paddington across the road from the Paddington Markets in 2004;
    That same year, on a visit to a New York trade show, Renae met Nicki Kelly who was showcasing her own sleepwear brand. They quickly became friends, realising the chemistry and passion they shared in business.
    This led to Nicki joining forces with Renae at Papinelle 12 years later.

    Today, Papinelle has grown to become a hugely successful brand sold in all Nordstrom doors across the USA, along with their direct to consumer website, and boutiques in Australia and New Zealand.
    17 years later, Renae says “its just the beginning...”

    It was exciting to speak with a brand that is experiencing a significant uplift in trade during this time as the Sleepwear and Loungewear categories boom globally.

    Before launching his eponymous label in 2016, Christian worked in a variety of industry roles in London, and as a buyer for a luxury department store in Australia. Christian received the National Design Award at the Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2019.

    Ren is the co-founder and advisor to the business, with a focus on marketing and the business side of fashion. Ren is also a senior manager at a Big Four consulting firm and also a regular contributor to GQ and Vogue.

    With a flagship store here in Melbourne, stockists including Lane Crawford and Harrolds, and a strong online business I loved that the customer, experiential retailing, relationships and authenticity were central to the ethos of this brand.

    Over six years James developed a unique business model that would enable each of his seamstresses to gain a skill set in tailoring while earning a living wage, receiving ongoing support and life-enhancing education, and crafting artisan quality jeans to compete in the global premium marketplace.
