Logical Fallacies Part 2
Today we are finishing up the conversation on logical fallacies. They sound like logical arguments but are actually just distractions to the discussion. Today we'll cover 8 different fallacies that will be helpful for us as we talk about Big Questions of faith. It is not too late for you to submit some questions that I would be happy to discuss on an episode.
The music on the podcast is from John Nugent. John is a Chicagoland area musician who has been a real blessing to Tabor Church.
Logical Fallacies
This week we are launching into questions about God, faith, religion, etc. Before we get there I want to spend a few days talking about the logical fallacies that exist. Why talk about them? We come across these arguments all the time and once we start to notice them it dismiss it and get back on track with the discussion. We will hit a few today and a few tomorrow. It is not too late to add your questions that I will discuss.

Left of Greg #058: Why do people think the earth is flat?
Spoiler alert: It's not flat!
Just like Mulder used to say on the X Files, "People want to believe."
In this episode, Brian and Greg are talking about people who take quantum leaps of logic when trying to find an explanation for something. They discuss how things like forced perspective, logical fallacies, and corrupt file folders can lead people to believe things that are absurd.
In reality, the truth is often stranger than fiction!

Skeptoid #691: FLICC: 5 Techniques of Science Denial
One popular rubric for identifying the common techniques used by science deniers.
The Identity Fallacy
Have you noticed that our culture is moving toward the view that certain people have license to say certain things and others do not? These rules are not based on the logic of the words that come out of a persons mouth, but the perception of who the person is. Very few of us have considered or discussed the implications of this habit. Together, let's explore this "identity fallacy" so we can move on to better conversations.
