Our preview coverage for the NFL draft continues with another prospect. Zion Bowens is a wide receiver from the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Last season he had the second-longest touchdown reception in school history with a 93 yard score against Colorado State. Finished with a career-high 172 receiving yards in that game.

Natasha "Naty" Serrano is a 31-year-old running for the California State Assembly District 56. She is currently working for the Department of Public Health in the Procurement Unit. Steve Sanderson grew up near Pasadena, CA and joined the Marine Corps 3 months after high school. He spent 2 tours in Ramadi, Iraq between 2005-2007 as well as a short training deployment to South Korea. After the military, Steve worked in sales and retail for a military and law enforcement supplier while completing his degree in Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. From there he has been in the Executive Protection industry for roughly 7 years, where he has guarded notable high profile clients in Southern California and recently got married in January. Lew Sevey has been married to his wife Gina for 36 years. He has two children, Courtney (33), Chad (30), and grandson Judah (5). He served in the Marine Corps as an enlisted man, and as an intelligence officer in the Army Reserves with the 12th Special Forces Group. Lew graduated from Northern Illinois University and worked in the Duty Free industry and the cigarette business. In our seventh episode, Lee Hendricks, Fieldwork Education's International Curriculum Manager for the Middle Years, interviews educator, author, and the founder of the Freedom Writers Foundation Erin Gruwell about the power of reflection, relationships, and relevance in education. With her passion and commitment, Erin transformed her students’ lives – by picking up pens, reflecting on their own struggles and experiences, and capturing them in writing. This ultimately led to the successful publication of her students’ stories in a book called the Freedom Writers Diary and then in 2007, became the basis for a feature film starring Hillary Swank playing Erin Gruwell.

Preston Durnford carries an unmatched level of passion and dedication to help others. For years, Preston struggled with serious heroin addiction and when he finally hit rock bottom, he knew there was no other option. After freeing himself from the shackles of addiction, he lost his father to suicide and his brother to a fentanyl overdose. These tribulations were incredibly hard on Preston, but he held strong in his recovery, as well as his mental health. Today, he uses his life experience as the fuel in which to help others struggling with mental health and addiction. He empathizes with and connects with his clients on a level that not only inspires sobriety but success as well. His passion and excitement are unmatched qualities that continue to inspire those around him. Preston equates success not with the amount of time that he or others have in recovery, but rather, success is the ability to embrace life to its fullest potential.

Chandler “Chan Luxe” Kryst is a 24 year old recording artist from Charlotte, NC. He is the brother of three older siblings who pave ambitious paths of their own and two younger siblings. 

He grew up in sports and would go on to earn a full scholarship for football at Coastal Carolina University. He earned a number of accolades and nominations and would sign with KineticSports Agency where he would receive minicamp invites from corner-demanding NFL teams such as the Dolphins. 

Meanwhile, Chan had a passion for music and constantly song wrote  and sang. Once Covid peaked, he decided to change direction and begin his music career. 

Since then, Chan has had many collaborations with producers, most notably, Shereen Cheong. Shereen helped Chan produce his first single, “Up,” an r&b/soul song that captivates the rawness of Chan’s voice.  

He continues his career performing live in Charlotte and creating buzz. Of recent he is making a move to California to better his career.  We are glad he made it on the podcast and know you will enjoy, LET’S GO!
