When You Get Knocked Down, You Keep Picking Yourself Up

When You Get Knocked Down, You Keep Picking Yourself Up

Life is a rollercoaster ride, filled with unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, it takes us on great highs where we feel invincible, and other times, it plunges us into depths that test our resilience. My journey has been no different, particularly in dealing with the specter of aneurysms that looms over my family's medical history.

    Loss

When I was a teenager, I lost my grandfather to an aneurysm. About six years ago, I lost my sister to an aneurysm. It was a tough time for us all. The suddenness of their departures left a void in our lives that seemed impossible to fill. But, as I navigated through the grief, I realized that their spirit lived on in me, and their memories became a source of strength and courage.

    Aneurysm

Recently, I discovered that I too have an aneurysm. I have chosen to see this diagnosis not as a tragedy but as an opportunity. An opportunity to prioritize my health, to live more mindfully, and to cherish every moment. Instead of letting fear dictate my life, I am using it as a tool for positive transformation.

Listen in to my new podcast as I talk about what happened and what's next. I promise, it's a story filled with hope, love, and optimism.

After all, life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain!

    S2, E02: Art Rios Says, :"Let's Talk"

    S2, E02: Art Rios Says, :"Let's Talk"
Can you look back at your life and say you have no regrets? Are you bogged down by the meaningless complexities of the world? In his witty and poignant first book: Let’s Talk, lawyer and "Student of Humanity" - as he puts it - Art Rios says it’s never too late to make your life exciting, easier, and exceptional.

“When, where, why, and how did life stop being exciting and straightforward?” Rios asks. “We’ve taken on so much stress and worry. All the time. But why? For what?”

The book, Let's Talk, is arranged as a series of "talks." Rios offers fun, simple ways you can improve your life today. It can be as easy as spending more time with family, relaxing with a long lunch, or enjoying a lazy Sunday in your pajamas.

“Improving your life doesn’t have to be complicated,” says Rios. “It’s just a matter of putting a little common sense and thought into the way you’re living your life.”

How Ayn Rand Got So Much Right

How Ayn Rand Got So Much Right

Recently, a friend asked me, “If philosophers have been trying to resolve fundamental questions for centuries and have come up short, why do you think Ayn Rand got so much right?” This is a helpful question because it focuses our attention on the difference(s) that set Objectivism apart from other philosophies.

Before you know it, you will be living the blessed life.

Things I Would Say To My Younger Self

Things I Would Say To My Younger Self
Have you ever wanted to go back in time and talk to your younger self? I certainly have. I would say: dear younger self, please listen to the lessons I have learned. I would sit down with him and share some things that would have helped him immensely, and save him a lot of heartache down the road. I learned that people cannot define who you are. To never lose sight of the big picture and the vision that God gives you, and that God is a lot nicer than you think he is.

The three things I would tell my younger self will no doubt help you also. Thanks for listening.

    Delirium: A real conversation 'snotter'
February 7: On today's show ... Shauna is NOT drunk (but she seems like it). She's just exhausted and delirious from a recent photoshoot for her new book. The ripple effect ... she goes on a tirade about surviving on a deserted island (Spoiler Alert: It involves tuna fish and duck tape) ... she slams Drew's "let's ride" catch phrase ... and she introduces Kevin – her water delivery man - to the show. #dailypodcast
