    Episode Summary

This episode features mother and daughter Bobbie and Angela Singletary. This dynamic duo shares their story, full of hardship, resilience, joy, love, and support. Bobbie, Angela, and two of Angela's kids all have achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, as did Angela's late sister Cindy. Listen how Cindy’s life at 33 could not be saved despite the huge sacrifices made by her mom and sister. We will hear how the Medicaid system failed them and how in spite of life challenges, including discrimination, systemic inequity, and personal struggles with alcohol,  these women continue to advocate for others.

Ep478: The potential for CBDCs to revolutionise the global payment system as we know it

Ep478: The potential for CBDCs to revolutionise the global payment system as we know it

Peter Woeste Christensen, Director, Lucht Probst Associates GmbH (LPA)

Peter Woeste Christensen, Director at capital markets technology and consulting firm LPA, believes that the rise of CBDCs has the potential to completely replace the current corresponding banking model. A shift from physical cash to CBDCs could move the current deposit model to a pure custody model, where banks no longer have direct access to retail funding. He expanded on this topic in conversation with IBSi’s Reporter Gaia Lamperti.

    Raise your hand.

    Raise your hand.

Today, we speak with Wendy Rodgers, CEO of architecture and design firm LPA - and in this episode, she's going to encourage you to "raise your hand."

Since joining LPA as an intern in 1987, Wendy Rodgers' journey has taken her all the way to CEO. How'd she do it? As Wendy explains, embracing an entrepreneurial spirit and taking on BIG initiatives can create momentum in your career - however, the journey might not always be easy, and there is a risk, but leaning into this risk is where we learn and grow.

We will get into that journey in this conversation, but we’ll also cover the state of the industry, career advice, and the future of building greener schools. So, get ready to be motivated to take some risks, learn to fail, and grow towards your goals.

*Note: Afton misspoke about LPAs in this episode: she reported that LPAs are around 400x400 square feet. In reality, LPAs can be up to 400 square feet in size, and license holders can have up to 4 LPAs in total (1600 square feet total). They can be any combination of dimensions. Additionally, LPA stands for "Limited Purpose Aquaculture", not "License to Practice Aquaculture".
