Giallo Podcast: Was fasziniert uns am italienischen Krimi?

Zusätzlich verrät Euch Thomas, was ihn an diesem Genre so fasziniert.

We also dive into the featured movie of the week, Lucio Fulci’s Don’t Torture a Duckling.

WE ARE GOING TO EAT YOU!

A Very Splattery Christmas: Discovering New Horror Through the Magic of Gift-Giving

For this special holiday episode, Dylan, Sheldon, and Will have decided to gift one another horror movies that they know (or hope) the giftee has never seen. The six strange, wonderful, lesser-known gems that we've helped each other discover are unveiled and discussed one at a time. Along the way, we learn about some fascinating filmmakers, like Lucio Fulci and Tom McLoughlin, unpack bizarre slashers, unearth a breathtaking early Italian vampire flick, and expose Sheldon to a Mexican luchador oddity that nearly breaks him. It's a seasonal grab-bag of weird horror-cinema wonders!

Lucio Fulci - Dungeon of Directors (City of the Living Dead, The Beyond & The House by the Cemetery)

Lucio Fulci - Dungeon of Directors (City of the Living Dead, The Beyond & The House by the Cemetery)

Lucio Fulci is resurrected from our Dungeon of Directors! Can you ever have too much Italian horror or gore? I have a feeling that Lucio would say no. Especially in regards to eyeball violence. Get ready for Lucio's Gates of Hell trilogy! Or is that his Apocalypse Trilogy? Whatever it is, we begin within the limits of the City of the Living Dead (1980). A wonderful place to visit, where people are subjected to storms of maggots, being buried alive, brain squishing, head drilling and bouts of nausea resulting in puking out their intestines and internal organs. That's already too much, you say? Well, what if you inherit a hotel in Louisiana and decide to make a go at a new life? That sounds nice, until you discover that the hotel is haunted by an ungodly warlock and is built on one of the seven gateways to Hell. Welcome to The Beyond (1981). And then from there, we have Bob. This mysterious girl in a photograph warns you to stay away from the Freudstein house. But you really don't try too hard to convince your parents not to take up residence in The House by the Cemetery (1981). Poor Bob. She warned you not to come.  Well listeners, even death cannot stop The Godfather of Gore. Fulci lives!

Folge 14 - Giallo der Meisterklasse "Argento / Fulci"

Folge 14 - Giallo der Meisterklasse "Argento / Fulci"
Dario Argento & Lucio Fulci.

    Episode 2 - Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond"

    Episode 2 - Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond"

A little strawberry lager to go with a deep dive into this cult classic "The Beyond," from Italian director Lucio Fulci. So grab a drink and join Andy and Lucas here for the conversation that follows into this "advanced fever dream!"

The movie goes a little like this...The cellar of an old hotel is built on top of the door to the beyond. Bloody zombies roam there. A young woman who is heir of the hotel wants to restore it, but she is confronted with a series of strange events. A painter has a lethal fall, the plumber vanishes, and her friend breaks his neck. When she escapes to the hospital of a friendly doctor she doesn't know - a nightmare is waiting there... Written in part by Matthias Luehr
