114 - Jared Moore on Thinking Biblically about Sexual Orientation, Attraction, and Temptation

114 - Jared Moore on Thinking Biblically about Sexual Orientation, Attraction, and Temptation

Jared Moore is the Pastor of Homesteads Baptist in Crossville, TN. In his recent book, “Lust of the Flesh,” Jared examines current movements within the American evangelical church related to sexuality. Jared takes to task various proponents of same-sex attraction within the church. He also looks to church history to give weight to this important matter.

My endorsement of Jared’s book: “In this accessible volume, Dr. Moore has done a tremendous work for the church today. The issue of sinful desires and lust is a fierce battleground for Christians, and many are harmed by bad teaching on these matters. Dr. Moore’s contribution to the church is certain to build her up to think clearly on such crucial topics. Christians and pastors will benefit greatly from the clear biblical and theological thinking found within."

    Day 324: The Ninth Commandment

    Day 324: The Ninth Commandment
What does covetousness mean? Today, we launch into the ninth commandment, which deals with carnal concupiscence. This commandment addresses the tension between the “flesh” and the “spirit.” Fr. Mike emphasizes that purity of heart and temperance are crucial to overcoming lust of the flesh. The more we obey God, the more our hearts see others as God sees them. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 2514-2519. If you have found this podcast to be helpful in your faith life and would like to help us continue bringing this Catholic media to as many people as possible, please consider making an ongoing financial gift at ascensionpress.com/support. The apostle John warns mature believers not to love the things of this world:  lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.  In this episode, we examine what each one of these biblical terms mean.  The biblical answers are politically incorrect, but they are Kingdom correct!

The World And Its Lusts- 1 Jn. 2:15-17 [15 Minute Bible Study]

In this week's shorter study, we will be looking at a famous passage written by the apostle Paul-- concerning the subject of lust-- and how Satan will use lust to divert us off of the path that God has placed us upon. Don't miss this exciting exploration of the Scriptures, where we focus in on what exactly the expressions, "lust of the flesh," and "the lust of the eyes," mean, and how this then applies to our lives.  Praying that you are blessed by today's study!
