    The Makeover Myth

Makeovers, while exciting and dramatic, often fail to deliver lasting transformation. This is because they tend to focus on external changes rather than addressing the root causes of dissatisfaction with one's appearance. They create an illusion of change, but beneath the surface, nothing has truly shifted.

That is why I coach my style clients, not just style them.  Often times it's their own self-doubt and lack of confidnece that keeps them from seeing their own beauty and showing up as a category of one in their industry.

Welcome to another episode of the Midlife Style School where we are delve into the exciting intersection of fasshion & mathmatics, a concept buzzing on social media called "Girl Math".

In this episode, we'll explore how "Girl Math" can help us better understand the real cost of clothing and accessories. We'll also share some tips on how to shop smarter and more efficiently using the principles of "Girl Math".

    Topics Discussed:

    1. Understanding "Girl Math"
      1. "Girl Math" is a trend that encourages consumers to consider the long-term value of a purchase rather than just the upfront cost.
      2. The primary tool used in "Girl Math" is the cost-per-wear formula, which is calculated by dividing the price of an item by the estimated number of times you'll wear it.
      3. The lower the cost-per-wear, the better the value.
    1. Applying "Girl Math" to Fashion Purchases
      • This approach can be particularly useful when shopping for clothing and accessories, as it shifts focus from the initial price tag to understanding the real value and longevity of an item.
      • However, it's important to use "Girl Math" responsibly and not as a justification for overspending or purchasing items that are beyond one's means.
    2. Tips for Shopping Smarter with "Girl Math"
      • Set a budget before you start shopping to avoid impulse purchases.
      • Prioritize quality over quantity, investing in fewer, high-quality pieces.
      • Calculate the cost-per-wear to understand the true value of an item.
      • Consider the versatility of items and invest in classic pieces.
      • Take good care of your items to extend their lifespan.
      • Always remember, the goal is to make more sustainable and thoughtful decisions, not just to find an excuse to shop.

    Key Takeaways:

"Girl Math" can be a valuable tool for consumers to better understand the real cost of clothing and accessories. It promotes mindful shopping and encourages a shift towards quality and sustainability. By applying these principles, you can make smarter shopping decisions that benefit both your wallet and the environment.

We explore why compliments from others sometimes fall on deaf ears, and how our thoughts, though not always factual, can significantly influence how we feel about ourselves and our outfits.

    Key Discussion Points:

    1. The Power of Self-Image: We start by discussing how our thoughts about ourselves directly impact our choices in clothing and how we feel about our clothing.

    2. The Compliment Conundrum: Why is it that when people compliment our outfits, we often struggle to believe them?

    3. Thoughts vs. Facts: Our thoughts about ourselves aren't always factual, yet they shape our feelings and actions.

    4. There is nothing wrong with you:  What you are thinking and feeling is totally normal.  Nothing has gone wrong but there is another way.

    How to Feel Beautiful

    How to Feel Beautiful

Find out what's stopping you from feeling more beautiful:  free mini-session

Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt less than beautiful? Perhaps you've spent hours trying to perfect your look, running from one shopping trip to the next for that 'magic' makeover. You may have even considered plastic surgery - anything, just to try and feel good about yourself. But despite all these efforts, do you still feel like something is missing?

If so, it might be time to take a look inside yourself instead of just searching externally - because no matter what kind of makeover we can offer; true beauty starts within.

In this podcast episode, we'll explore how self-love is key in unlocking our inner beauty - and step away from being reliant on external factors that just don't last.

The journey to feeling beautiful is a process. We can tend to the outside all we want and still not feel beautiful on the inside. Understanding why we can't make ourselves beautiful by changing our appearances and delving into what lies beneath the surface is how true beauty blossoms.

It's not about having it all together, but rather it's allowing ourselves to think deeply about why we don't feel good enough so that this can be addressed head-on. Taking accountability for our internal dialogue and its impact on our day-to-day life is a powerful tool for reshaping our thoughts around beauty.

By creating a plan to love yourself more, we are taking an active role in feeling beautiful from within. If you’re ready to make some real changes today, schedule a free mini-session today.

    My Midlife Makeover Story

    My Midlife Makeover Story

Today I'm sharing my midlife makeover.  Your story might be different but the end result is the same...it's time to decide how we want to behave, dress, and be in midlife.

Join me inside my style coaching program THE MIDLIFE STYLE SCHOOL

I am sharing my heart behind why we are narrowing down the podcast to midlife women and why it's important to me.

In addition to sharing my personal reasons, I also shared 7 general reasons how women in midlife will benefit from this podcast.

    1. We want advice that speaks to our experience with career, family and finances. Women in midlife often have different concerns than younger women such as what discreetly covers aging skin or how to dress for professional success without looking too stuffy.

    2. Midlife women have different styles than younger women - We know that the styles of the younger generation are constantly changing, so midlife women need fashion advice specifically tailored to their needs. This means understanding which trends are appropriate for a more mature look and adapting existing trends to flatter a woman in her 40s and 50s.

    3. Midlife women have a wealth of knowledge and experience - As midlife women, we have the benefit of already having years of life experiences behind us. This means that we can use these experiences to our advantage when it comes to looking good. We can learn from our past experiences, what works for us and what doesn't, allowing us to create a unique wardrobe that flatters our body type and complexion perfectly.

    4. Midlife women need more accessible fashion resources – Many fashion resources are geared towards younger generations, making them inaccessible for midlife women who may not be as familiar with the current trends or how to shop for clothes in their age range. By focusing on providing fashion tips specifically for midlife women, we can help make fashion more accessible without compromising on style or quality.

     5. Fashion isn’t just about clothes; it’s about self-expression and confidence which are important at any age but especially so during midlife when we may feel like our best years are behind us. By focusing on fashion tips specifically tailored towards this stage of life, we can help empower women to embrace their beauty as they enter into their older years with grace and poise.

    6. Midlife women often lack confidence in their appearance - With age comes wisdom but it also brings changes in self-perception; something that may cause midlife women to feel less confident about their appearance than they did when they were younger. By providing advice tailored specifically for

    A Makeover Is Not Superficial

    A Makeover Is Not Superficial
I had the experience to see the Phoenix Fashion Week models transform from their model makeovers and it reminded me of when my clients get their makeovers.

It doesn't matter if your 18 or 68 getting a makeover, it changes how you see yourself and how others see you...and that isn't just skin deep.

    Changes happen on the inside.

I am sharing why makeovers aren't superficial this week on the podcast.
