    FOCUS VERSES Part1: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4  “Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you  (2)  not to be quickly shaken in your mind, and not be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.  (3)  Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the rebellion [Meaning: Apostasy- defection from the truth]  comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,  (4)  he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.”  

    The Satanic deception has not stopped since the very foundation of the earth. He hasn’t changed his tactics and schemes. They are the same as they always have been. This is why we are warned to be wise to the tricks of the devil.

    Ephesians 6:11 “Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

    Even right after Jesus went into heaven, the Anti-Christ Spirit was active within the church. Satan was trying to pervert the true Gospel From the start.

    1 John 2:18-19 “Children, it is the last hour, and just as you heard that THE antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. We know from this that it is the last hour.  (19)  They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us, because if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they went out from us to demonstrate that all of them do not belong to us.”

    All these renowned Anti-Christ actors, defying the one true God, are just forerunners of the truth: “The Man of Sin, The Son of Perdition, The Lawlessness One, The Anti-Christ.” Much like John the Baptizer was the kingly herald of Jesus our Messiah. What is going on right now across the entire planet is heralding the soon coming and the manifestation of the Man of Sin, The true Son of Perdition. Yes, THE Anti-Christ!

    Thankfully, I believe God and Jesus gave us all the clues, tips, and information we need to pinpoint WHO it is and WHAT the power is behind this deceptive character.     After Titus dismantled Jerusalem, gathered its spoils, and dispersed its captives, he left Judea to join his father in Rome. He commissioned Bassus and Silva to capture the three remaining rebel fortresses of Herodium, Macherus, and Masada. The Roman soldiers overturned every stone of the temple building in order to get the gold and silver that had melted into the cracks, unwittingly fulfilling Jesus' prophecy that there would not be left one stone upon another (Matt 24:2). The temple vessels and furnishings were taken to Rome by Titus. Herodium and Macherus offered little resistance, but Masada fought to the bitter end. We use evidence from archaeology, Josephus, Hegesippus, and Yosippon to support the idea that the Eleazar in command of Masada was the same Eleazar b. Ananias who had started the war and held the temple during most of the war. This same evidence suggests that Eleazar was the Man of Lawlessness that Apostle Paul referred to in his second letter to the Thessalonians. Those three historians talk about how Eleazar and his forces on Masada were ultimately defeated by the breath of the Lord's mouth and forced to be slain.     We begin by looking at how the Zealot leader Eleazar started the rebellion by blowing the ram's horn and rallying the troops inside Jerusalem to block Gessius Florus's attempt to get the rest of the imageless gold coins out of the Temple. This shows how Eleazar was the originator of the revolt, and the fulfillment of the Man of Lawlessness. Josephus gives "the day and the hour" of the Parousia with its associated resurrection of the dead and bodily change of the living. Josephus, Tacitus, Yosippon, Hegesippus, and Eusebius all record these events in their histories of the Jewish War. R. C. Sproul Sr. calls this historical testimony "a most remarkable record [which] lends credence" to the idea that there was some kind of coming of Christ in connection with the destruction of Jerusalem.     After a few months of looking at the book of Romans, we are now picking back up with our historical studies. The last two historical podcasts (July and August 2013) dealt with the military campaigns of Cestius Gallus and Vespasian against the Zealot forces. Before getting into the chronology of the whole war (AD 66-70), we need to review the events that occurred just before the war (AD 64-66). Those last two years were chock full of false messiahs, rumors of war, abominations, lawlessness, signs in the heavens, signs on earth, angelophanies, and voices heard coming from the unseen realm.     If you are interested in considering some possible fulfillments of the Abomination of Desolation and the Man of Lawlessness, this podcast is for you. We look at how Gessius Florus, the Roman procurator over Judea in AD 66, attempted to rob the temple of all of its imageless coinage and force the Jews to bring in coins with Nero's deified image on them. This would have been an abomination of the temple, and easily explains why the Zealots and Priests revolted. One of the key players in that rebellion was Eleazar, the Captain of the Temple Guard, and son of the powerful High Priest Ananias b. Nedebaeus. Eleazar blew the shofar and rallied the citizens to block Florus' access to the temple. Eleazar then took control of the temple and did many other lawless things which suggest that he might have been the Man of Lawlessness.
