Running a marathon can be a transformative experience. I strongly encourage everyone to tackle that challenge. Any ordinary person willing to put in the work to train and prepare can accomplish this monumental feat. But I will admit, you have to be a bit extraordinary do it in under three hours and even more extraordinary to pull that off on back to back days. But Orinthal Striggles is pretty Extraordinary. Training with Kenyan runners and coaching incredibly talented Americans like Shawanna White, you can find Coach Striggles any given weekend on a marathon podium near you. He and his crew travel almost every weekend, bouncing from race to race racking up the records and awards. Not just a world-class runner, Orinthal has used his talents to help others attempt to accomplish some pretty lofty goals as well.
His passion for the sport started at an early age and through overcoming some tragic mistakes along the way, Coach Striggles has now been able to help athletes on two continents realize their dreams and potential. Orinthal has served as a mentor to many. His example, both in his full-time role of counselor and especially as a father, shows all of us how we can overcome adversity and dedicate ourselves to what is truly important. We all make mistakes, but it’s how we choose to react to those mistakes that define our character. And Coach Striggles is definitely a character.
