There is something missing in this entire passage. David’s fled, or trying to flee the Presence of Saul, but where is he to go? What’s he supposed to do? All the author does right now is show us what he’s doing. But something is missing. One of my commentators brings up, “On various occasions, reference is made to David’s enquiring of the Lord with respect to where he should go and what he should do (e.g. 23:2, 4; 30:8; 2 Sam. 2:1; 5:19, 23). No such reference is recorded in the present chapter. What will come of all this?” (Philipps V. Long, TOTC, 1 and 2 Samuel)

There is a clear strategy for our adversary to wear you out! Are you being worn our physically, mentally or spiritually? Knowing the way the enemy is attempting to wear you out will help you find the way that the Lord wants to rest and restore you. Relationship with Jesus is life and is the key to resting in the finished work of the cross. The reality of the finished work of the cross can supernaturally bring rest to your mind, body and spirit.

Jesus was no stranger to controversy. There were even times when He pushed the issue and created controversy. The proper place of the Sabbath was one of those times.
