Ep 044 What is Ancestral Trauma and How Can We Heal It? | Guest: Dr Lotte

Dr Lotte returns to talk about Ancestral Healing with Julia Marie, your host.

If you have repeating patterns in your life that you cannot seem to overcome, it's possible it's not your pattern! These patterns can range from familial patterns of alcoholism or abuse or an inability to find a life partner to depression, PTSD, anxiety or a mysterious illness with no identifiable cause.

We talk about how you can begin to lessen the impact of your ancestral imprints on your life, and you will hear an overview of an incredible book It Didn't Start with You by Mark Wolynn. He developed  the Core Language Approach, a revolutionary process that addresses what he calls inherited family trauma. If you are a DIY kind of person, this book is a must have when it comes to exploring how to heal from our ancestral wounds. Hear the story of how he discovered this powerful healing tool

We cannot heal what we are not aware of, and Dr Lotte trained with Mark Wolynn and uses his approach in her sessions. She will be facilitating a master class with the Theosophical Society soon (March 2023). Register by clicking the link below.

Maybe that Trauma Isn't Yours, Inherited Trauma is a Thing; with Mark Wolynn

Maybe that Trauma Isn't Yours, Inherited Trauma is a Thing; with Mark Wolynn

What if all that we inherit from our parents extended far beyond the physical and personality traits we’re aware of? We all have trauma in our families, to some extent, but which factors decide whether that is passed down to our children? Today’s guest, Mark Wolyn, has deeply researched the idea of inherited family trauma, and published his findings in his book, It Didn’t Start with You. It explores, at length, the ways in which the trauma our parents, grandparents, or even great-grandparents experienced can be passed down through our genetics. Join us today to hear about Mark’s own search for healing, after inexplicably losing vision in one of his eyes, before coming to learn that he needed to heal his bond with his mother. Learn about how human foundations for trust in life are formed, and what fascinating results epigenetic testing in mice has revealed about generational trauma. We also dive into how Mark distinguishes between attachment and generational trauma, and how he proceeds according to the diagnosis, before we hear how you can support your child’s healing at any age. Thanks for tuning in to hear all this and more today!

    Key Points From This Episode:

    • Meet today’s guest, Mark Wolynn, and hear about his research into inherited trauma.

    • Genetics, epigenetics, and the molecular changes that happen after we experience trauma.
    • How we usually think about our stress responses and relationship to anxiety and depression.
    • What prompted Mark’s research: inexplicably losing vision in one of his eyes.
    • How his search for healing led him to repair his relationship with his parents, through a path of resolving his own relationship with anxiety.
    • Generational behavior he identified in his mother and sister, fearing they would never see their mothers again.
    • Healing the bond with his mother, restoring his vision, and developing his healing method.
    • The foundation for having trust in life, starting with your relationship with your parents.
    • Testing for generational trauma in mice and how their brains replicate the stress response.
    • Epigenetic testing in baby mice.
    • How sons and daughters are equally impacted by their mother and father’s trauma.
    • Triggering events that mirror our parents’ trauma or take us back to very early memories.

#050 Mark Wolynn | Expert On Inherited Family Trauma

    Hello beautiful people

On today’s podcast we have the lovely Mark Wolynn. Mark is a world leader in the field of Inherited Family Trauma and director of The Family Constellation Institute. He is a highly sought-after lecturer, an educational and training provider in which he has just released his new training on Inherited Family Trauma (I will leave a link below), and bestselling author of the book, ‘It Didn’t Start With You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are And How To End The Cycle’.

What I personally love about this conversation is Mark’s deep insight in and compassion for Inherited Family Trauma. Mark shares what Inherited Family Trauma is, how it could be affecting you and how to heal your present self who may be experiencing mental health challenges that are a manifest of gene adaptation from previous generations. He shares his personal Core Language approach which shows us how language and trauma intersect, and how, “Uncovering our core language can free us from reliving traumas that don’t belong to us.” I even share my own personal experience with Mark’s work and how it provided a new perspective on some of my deepest fears that have never felt true to me and my life experience.

This year I intend to get more experts in their chosen field to come onto the To Be Human podcast, so if you have anyone you would like to see on, please contact me below; I would love to hear from you as we continue to build and evolve the To Be Human Collective. What Is Inherited Family Trauma? w/ Mark Wolynn

What Is Inherited Family Trauma? w/ Mark Wolynn

In Episode 17 of The Makin Wellness Podcast, I am joined by award-winning author Mark Wolynn for an in-depth conversation on inherited family trauma. Mark share stories of his past battles with these traumas and breaks down insights found in his book, It Didn't Start With You, covering the same subject.

What is Inherited Family Trauma? This definition is direct from Mark's website:

When a trauma happens, it changes us—sometimes for generations. The grief, the suffering, the distress doesn’t always end with us. The feelings and sensations—specifically the stress response, the way our genes express—can pass forward to our children and grandchildren, affecting them in a similar way, even though they didn’t personally experience our trauma. Simply put, many of us relive the tragedies from previous generations and rarely make the link.

If you want to know more on this subject, Mark is the resource you need to follow. Visit his website, follow him on Instagram, and pick up a copy of It Didn't Start With You today.

Dialed In Podcast 015 ~ Inherited Family Trauma and Functional Medicine with Kari Dunlop

Kari Dunlop is a certified functional medicine health coach and wellness junkie who specializes in working with inherited family trauma. A former tv producer, Kari now helps people see how the real-life stories of their family histories are unknowinging connected to the challenges they currently struggle with. By becoming a detective of their family stories, she helps people see how the heartbreaks, resentments and disappointments of our parents and grandparents can live on in our depression, anxiety, financial hardships, relationship struggles and even our perpetual people pleasing. It didn't start with us and the good news is that we can break the generational cycle of these patterns. It was her own 25 year struggle with chronic illness that ultimately changed things for her, in the best of ways. The proverbial silver lining of her 'hell-th' journey was discovering the work of Mark Wolynn, one of the leading experts in the field of inherited family trauma. Attending his two-day workshop connected many of the dots that would later become pivotal stepping-stones for her, both personally and professionally. Since that weekend over 10 years ago, she became the organizer of his training programs and has trained in every facet of his work. Kari is also a Martha Beck life coach and a self-professed neuroscience geek obsessed with learning about the brain. Kari has studied with neuroplasticity experts Rick Hanson, Annie Hopper and Lisa Wimberger. She is also a Young Living essential oil specialist who teaches about the benefits of essential oils on the brain.
