    Married…with Children “It’s A Bundyful Life” (w/ Scott Newman)

What’s up, dudes? Scott  from Jingle Jank and Tinsel Tunes is here with me to talk about the two part "Married...with Children" Christmas episode 'It's a Bundyful Life!'

In part one, Al tries to finally provide his family with the perfect Christmas through the use of his bank's Christmas Club. He's saved up enough to actually get them gifts! Unfortunately, while stuck at work, he arrives at the bank too late! Now penniless and giftless, he tries to scam a few bucks off some shopping mothers by watching their children. Typical Bundy disappointment ensues. Part two sees Al accidentally electrocute himself. His guardian angel Sam Kinison arrives and gives him the "It's a Wonderful Life" treatment: Al was never born! Seeing his wife happily married to another man and his kids smart and successful reignites his desire to live. How dare they be happy! All's well that ends well...or at least, that returns to the status quo.

Getting jumped by a group of Santas? Yep. Being tied up by angry moms? For sure. Seeing your drunk neighbor xerox her rear end then throw up in her own mailbox? Definitely! So grab your cough syrup, make some snow cones with real snow, and see an alternate reality with 'It's a Bundyful Life!'

What it took to accomplish my dreams with Devon Still
It was a pleasure to sit down with Devon Joshua Still who is a former American football defensive end. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Penn State, where he earned consensus All-American honors. He was also a member of the Houston Texans and New York Jets. Fantasy Guru Matthew Berry '92 - From WJPZ to Hollywood to ESPN and NBC

Fantasy Guru Matthew Berry '92 - From WJPZ to Hollywood to ESPN and NBC

Today's guest needs no introduction for the sports fans in our group.  Matthew Berry, Class of 1992, is now a central part of NBC Sports NFL coverage, following a 15 year run at ESPN where he found a niche as the fantasy sports expert.

But we start with Matthew's time in Syracuse.  He was multi-platform before it was cool - writing a humor column for the Daily Orange, and working on a sitcom at UUTV before joining the Cray-Z Morning Crew at WJPZ.  At Z89 he worked with Kendall B, Adam Shapiro, and Chris Lindsay.  We go back to some of his favorite bits.

When he graduated, Berry went to Hollywood to pursue a screenwriting career, with his writing partner and classmate Eric Abrams.  We go through their journey of writing for George Carlin, Kirk Cameron, and eventually, the final season of Married With Children.

As fantasy sports grew in the late 1990's, Matthew leveraged his Hollywood experience to land a writing gig for a website.  Soon, he was thinking much more about fantasy sports than television and movie scripts.   He found a niche for himself and hustled, soon building his own website and being his own publicity machine.   He worked his way onto the air on ESPN Radio Los Angeles, and over to several other ESPN properties before finally getting an offer to become the Fantasy Expert at The Worldwide leader.

Berry spent 15 years at ESPN, becoming a household name.  But a year ago, he left ESPN and moved over to NBC Sports.  He candidly discusses the two main reasons he switched  networks.

Throughout this episode, you'll hear some great advice from one of our most successful alumni.  Matthew offers networking tips, talks about hustle, and the need to sometimes "fake it til you make it."

We also chat about his experience returning to Syracuse to keynote the Banquet several years ago.   At Faegan's, he went from flip night participant to the center of attention.   But he'll be quick to tell you, his beer pong skills remain as strong as ever.

Episode 173: Mommy Issues: 'Sleepwalkers' (1992)/'Torn Hearts' (2022)

Episode 173: Mommy Issues: 'Sleepwalkers' (1992)/'Torn Hearts' (2022)

It is one of those shows this week. Two hosts called in sick. Thankfully, there was a backup in place. We begin the episode by talking about New Orleans and The Overlook Film Festival. Anne Rice, witches, vampires, and a Brooklyn gorilla are all a part of the discussion. We also wonder why animal actors have been so overlooked despite their hefty contributions.

Brea Grant is an amazing part of genre film. She has written, directed, and starred in some amazing movies. Her latest work teams her with Katey Sagal. Sagal has been an industry mainstay for a while now. She constantly does great work, but never seems to get the credit she deserves. Both show off their immense talents in Torn Hearts, a thriller about never meeting your heroes.

Much of Grant's work has focused on what women have to deal with and this release is no different. Written by Rachel Koller Croft, the plot follows a country music duo who are trying to make it big in Nashville. When they have the chance to meet their idol, they jump at it. Things do not go quite as planned in a twist filled story that tackles the patriarchy, age,  and the country music industry.

Is there anything Stephen King cannot do? Of course, he has written numerous books and short stories, but he has also been a director and acted. Sleepwalkers was the first feature film written by the horror icon. It is about a mother and son who are also shapeshifters that feed on virgins(?) and have sex with each other in their spare time.

Cat lovers will probably get a kick out it and it is a precursor to one of the most popular sub genres in modern porn, but does it have anything for horror fans? We agreed that it was inconsistent - and we even thought so for the same reasons - but we still each got something different out of Sleepwalkers. It takes a special kind of disorganized to have noticeable flaws that people find in almost opposite ways.
