In 2021, Ellie Middelton received a diagnosis of ADHD and autism at the age of 23. It was one of the best things that happened to her. Today, she joins us to discuss why neurodivergence is typically overlooked in women, the misconceptions we have about ADHD and autism, unmasking and how to navigate a diagnosis later in life. She also discusses how to manage neurodivergence in our 20s, why self diagnosis is valid, and why the path people want you to take, may not always be the one for you. Listen now!

Episode 127 The week in ADHD (35)

Episode 127 The week in ADHD (35)

In Episode 127 of The ADHD Adults Podcast, Alex, James and Mrs ADHD expand on this week's theme of ADHD and decision making, answer questions from YOU, our listeners, and generally talk nonsense for ages. Episode 55: ADHD and Masking

    Episode 55: ADHD and Masking

Mrs ADHD returns, bringing with her all the chaos that is expected for an episode on ADHD and masking. Despite this, as usual, the episode includes very dull yet informative psychoeducation delivered by old balloon head,  Alex the Psychoeducation Monkey,  the personal reflections from all three ADHD adults and the usual  'top tips'.  'What has James lost, forgotten or mislaid this week?" returns just to annoy Alex, but will he finally choose laptops? Alex reads out correspondence from 'Robert from Kidderminster', even in his poorly state and also continues to alienate our international listeners with his ridiculous hellos.  Will James get shushed again? Will Mrs ADHD manage to not interrupt? Will Alex's head continue to be the butt of everybody's jokes? Listen to find out...

Live more freely with autism, and nurture inclusivity
Autistic people are constantly forced to suppress who they are as a means of pleasing a neurotypical world. Social psychologist Devon Price not only wants to give them permission to take off that mask and be themselves, but believes that doing so allows everyone to lead happier lives.

Three Guidelines To Understanding The Delta Variant

Three Guidelines To Understanding The Delta Variant
Delta is quickly becoming the dominant coronavirus variant in multiple countries. The variant has spread so fast because it is more contagious than the variants that came before it. At the same time, the U.S. is equipped with highly effective vaccines. Ed Yong, science writer for The Atlantic, talks with Maddie about the interaction between the variants and the vaccines and how that will be crucial in the months ahead.
