    Research-Wisdom-Action #18 - The Seven P's of Wisdom

    Research-Wisdom-Action #18 - The Seven P's of Wisdom

Some Christians can develop a tendency to think that James’ (1:5) great advice to ask God for wisdom is a foolproof way to ensure the best wisdom prevails in a believer’s decision-making. But is that really true? Are there “wisdom foundations” that need to be laid before we ever ask God for wisdom? Join Kevin as we open up and detail the “seven P’s” that can and do prescribe the gathering and deploying of wisdom in our complex and challenging world of decision-making! // Download this episode's Application & Action questions and PDF transcript at whitestone.org.

    Book of Mark, Part 18

    Book of Mark, Part 18
Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 18 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attributed to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. Who was Jesus really, and why exactly did he come? In the last several weeks we have heard how Jesus proved his divine nature and his authority over sickness and death, learning about his redemptive work. Today’s message introduces the dawn of a new era in his ministry: the sending of the twelve to preach the good news of the kingdom like their Master. Until now, the disciples had been observing Jesus. They had listened to what he said, and watched what he did. Now they must put those things into practice. What can we glean from this to apply to our own gospel proclaiming efforts? Ordinary Means of Grace, Part 2

Ordinary Means of Grace, Part 2
Today, Pastor Marc Sharp concludes the two-part series about the tools through which God most commonly brings about his will, and distributes his grace in our lives. This message looks more closely at two additional "ordinary" means of grace that we must utilize: the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), and the church, while also looking more deeply into the role of the Holy Spirit in all of this. NOTE: Due to technical difficulties, there is an approximate 3 minute gap in the audio around the 30 minute mark. Deity of Christ and the Trinity

Deity of Christ and the Trinity
The most important doctrine in all of Biblical revelation is the Deity of Christ and the Trinity. This teaching is certainly hard to wrap our minds around, but fortunately a full understanding of it is not crucial to our salvation. What is essential, however, is that we believe in the Deity of Christ, regardless of whether we fully understand it. So we will be looking at several Biblical texts which reveal and illustrate the Deity of Christ and the Trinity. We examine the powerful arguments of Anselm (eleventh century) who showed convincingly from Scripture that our atonement is completely dependent upon the Deity of Christ. No imperfect creature (man or angel) can atone for our sins. Only a perfect sinless sacrifice can die in our place, and only God is sinless. John 17:5 clearly teaches the Pre-Existence and Eternal Begottenness of the Divine Son of God. Revelation 5 shows all saints and angels in heaven giving equal worship and glory to both the Lamb and the One who sits on the throne.
