    Relaxing on the Porch

    Relaxing on the Porch

People used to just sit for hours on porches. Maybe you never did but saw someone older than you sit around and talk. Remember Andy & Barney on the TV show sitting on the porch talking or playing guitar? Some folks had a knife and stick and whittled while they sat.

If you didn’t whittle, there was always talking, or rocking in a rocking chair, or listening to nature. If you lived near a road, you could watch the cars go by.

Does that seem an incredible waste of time?

We have believed lies. They include: “You must maximize your productivity,” and “Doing nothing is a waste of time.”

Doing nothing is neither a waste of time nor easy. It takes concentration and effort to turn off the impulse to do, and to instead spend time “being.”
    But it has great rewards.

ProCo 197: Pearl Harbor, Nebraska - My Kind of Town

There is no denying that small towns have a certain charm. The quaint environment they provide is something you just can't get in bigger cities. But know this, every single one also has something weird going on. It might be troll themed. It might have a hyperfixation on a sitcom from the 60s. It might name itself after American tragedies and host an oyster festival despite not being costal. Ok, we made that last one up, but you get the point.

Zach brings sherry, Jared gets roasted by his hometown, and Adam truly misunderstands Alf.

Talking Points Include: Frasier Vibes, Spin Off Combos, Spooky Re-Edits, Bug Pranks, Not Our Hometown, Mayberry Fest, Making a Weird Town, The Landlocked Oyster Festival, Wolf Flu, Cold Hard Cash

Ep 80: Film Producer Cort Howell - Mayberry Man

Ep 80: Film Producer Cort Howell - Mayberry Man
Indiana based producer, Cort Howell, fills us in on his journey in the entertainment industry from infomercials in California to filmmaking in the Midwest and his latest release, "Mayberry Man." He explains how they were able to complete a very successful crowdfunding campaign and how they were able to achieve so much more production value than their budget would suggest. If you have been having a tough time with crowdfunding campaigns and / or bringing production value to your films, you’ll want to get your notepads ready for this one.

#258 - Mayberry: Chopped & Posed - Mount Airy, North Carolina

#258 - Mayberry: Chopped & Posed - Mount Airy, North Carolina

This week, in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the town that "Mayberry" of The Andy Griffith Show is based on isn't so idyllic, considering a body is found, posed, and with the hands chopped off. The investigation couldn't have been more incompetent, if it was conducted by the Sheriff of a sitcom, instead of the actual real police that ended up with it. Wild truths come out about the killer, including even more murder, and a prison diary that goes public, and makes the whole system angry. Will he escape the electric chair?

Along the way, we find out that some people REALLY love The Andy Griffith Show, that chopping hands off doesn't keep anyone from identifying a body, and that killing more people doesn't make killing the first person okay to do!!

    66: The Rough One

    66: The Rough One
The Andy Griffith Show is a show about cops, and that means Breaking Mayberry is a show about a show about cops, and that means Marty and Dan have to answer a lot of hard questions.

After deliberating on this for about 20 minutes and probably still getting it wrong, we move on to an episode of the Andy Griffith Show that AG fans love, and leaves us a sweaty, tearful mess.

    It's Season 3, Episode 16 "Man In A Hurry"

    [10] CHVRCHES

    [10] CHVRCHES

    Electronic... Pop-rock... Scottish... CHRVCHES.

The episode was recorded last year when the show Zealous Musician was still in development. Recording this was part of testing out how to do episodes on different styles of music that I love. Rather than letting it sit on a shelf and collect dust, I decided to publish the episode! Although it's much different than the post-hardcore/emo bands of season one, I hope you enjoy this synthesized change of pace!

Special thanks to my guest Brad!

    29: Doodles Moseys In
Allright, this is probably our most immature episode so far, but we had some steam to blow off, and this fruit was low-hanging. This episode is about an old woman who hooks up with travelling drifters, I don't know how else to break it to you, there it is though. Marty and Dan respond about as well as can be expected.
