    Today we welcome Dr. Shakir to the podcast!

    Irshad Shakir, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Shakir completed his fellowship training in primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction from Southern Joint Replacement Institute in Nashville, TN. In addition, he has broad experience in general orthopedics from his time serving in the United States Air Force.

    Dr. Shakir received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Chicago where he graduated with honors and Dean's List achievements. While there, he was also a member of the varsity football team. Dr. Shakir completed his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine with honors in bioethics and professionalism. He went on to an orthopedic residency at Saint Louis University. He then served in the US Air Force for four years; he was deployed to the Middle East and awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

    In his free time, Dr. Shakir enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and dog. He also enjoys traveling and supporting his Chicago sports teams.

    He completed his orthopedic residency and internship at the University of Arizona, the Phoenix Campus, and a hand surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University.

    Dr. Walker's interests include hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery, along with tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis, fracture care, joint replacement & reconstruction.
