    EP - 160 Firepit Men's Group

Todd Howard joins our conversation to talk about the importance of men finding connections and friendship. Todd is a great guy from North Atlanta. You are going to find that Todd is as passionate as I am about supporting men in building and maintaining friendships as we grow older and take on more responsibilities in our lives.

What is excellent about Todd is that he wasn't content to see a problem and talk about it. No, he went out and created a solution. A solution that is not therapy (nothing wrong with going to and being active in therapy), not churchy (nothing wrong with spirituality or church), but a solution that is as easy as having a fire in the backyard or middle of the culdesac with guys that live right in your neighborhood.

We walk through the process that Todd has created that anyone can implement where they live. This is a simple process that will help you build a tighter community, create lasting friendships, AND make sure that YOU know that you are not alone on your journey through life.

Once you have listened to this fantastic conversation, please share it with three friends who would like to hear Todd's message about the importance of friendship and how to build closer relationships with those great people who live around us.

#34 - DANIEL YOSHIMI | Dad In Progress

Daniel Yoshimi grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil and moved to the USA when he was 22 years old. His career as a coach started while coaching Martial Arts in 1998. Teaching and guiding people is an art that requires patience, embodiment and love. In 2008 his house was burned down to the ground. He lost everything. His wife was 7 months pregnant. From those ashes came the idea to open a restaurant. He was 14K in debt and he found a way to build a 250k Brazilian restaurant. For almost ten years he ran a seven figure operation with a team of 25 employees while still teaching martial arts. In 2022 he decided to close the business and pursue his passion as a Life Coach.

Pursuing the road of self development, he graduated in 2022 with a Master Coach degree at Elementum Institute where he was guided by 4 incredible Master coaches: Preston Smiles, Alexi Panos, Cristine Hassler and Stefanos Sifandos. With over 300 hours of coaching experience he is trained in somatics, NLP, trauma work, inner child, Internal family systems, and reframing paradigms.

CATW # 6 – with the Boulder Valley Men's Group about Men's Work

CATW # 6 – with the Boulder Valley Men's Group about Men's Work

A conversation with my good friends at the Boulder Valley Men's Group, about the importance of men's work. The questions we discussed were:
    - What does it mean to you to be a man?
    - Who were your male role models and what did you learn from them?
    - How did you first encounter men’s work?
    - Why did it call you?
If you are interested in learning more about men's work, here are a few suggestions for where to turn. (For those of you not in the U.S., note that the first organization listed also has chapters in other parts of the world.)

Mankind Project – one of the older men's group organizations out there.  A good way to find a local group.

Spiritual Warfare Effectiveness Training – this is the program out in Pennsylvania whose weekend I attended.

The Life-Changing Experiences of Rites of Passage with Steven Arms

The Life-Changing Experiences of Rites of Passage with Steven Arms

In years past, many cultures have had rites of passages for young boys transitioning into manhood. Over recent decades, these rites of passages for boys have since vanished. However, a rite of passage is a powerful transitional experience for a young man that can be an empowering experience that can change his life in such a profound manner. On this episode we talk about the benefits of a rite of passage, the life changing experiences and the lessons that serve a man for a lifetime.

Steven Arms lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and is the proud father of two young children.   He is an author, speaker, thought leader, and innovator.

He's also the best selling author of Milestone to Manhood, a Christian right of passage to help your 13 year old son make the leap from boyhood to manhood. He's got a passion for teaching others. He writes in a way to record the best practices of various aspects of life. His writing reflects his personal interests, which include faith, family, athletics, and engineering.

His book, Milestone to Manhood is about a once in a lifetime weekend that a father or a grandfather can take and organize his son on his 13th birthday. The weekend is designed to mark your son's entrance into manhood in a meaningful way, in addition to bestowing the title of Man onto your son. The purpose of the weekend is also to share advice and wisdom with him.

Life in the Face of Adversity with Mark Ewing

Life in the Face of Adversity with Mark Ewing

Imagine you woke up tomorrow and your life was completely different and totally altered from what it was yesterday. Suddenly, somehow, some way, you have a stroke and your entire left side of your body is paralyzed and life as you know it, may never be the same, you might not even live.

This is part of what I talked to my guest, Mark  Ewing, today.

Mark Ewing owns a couple of successful businesses, is a husband with two kids and 2020, along with the challenges that it brought for most of us, had a little extra for him, when he was in his early forties and he woke up in the middle of the night with a full-blown stroke.

Fortunately, Mark has made a full recovery. Mark’s story brought me to my knees and it makes me think that we cannot take for granted the blessings we have today in our lives.

How to Start a Men's Group

How to Start a Men's Group

In this episode we’ll explore how to start, structure and maintain a successful men’s group (even if you’ve never been in one before). I’ve personally been in men’s groups for over 10 years, and they’ve improved literally every area of my life.

In addition to learning how to start a group of your own, you'll also hear personal stories from my experiences in men's groups, and you'll hear from a good friend of mine named Nathan who’s actually in my personal men’s group too. Nathan just started a second men's group, and his story is helpful and inspiring because it shows just how easy it can be to start one.

This episode is a recording of the “How to Start a Men’s Group” workshop I led a month ago over Zoom. The recording turned out so well I decided to turn it into a full podcast episode. There's a lot in this episode, so if you're someone who likes to see things written out in nicely structured ways, check out the guide I created below:
