Rick jumps right in with some “Dad Jokes” in today’s episode. Nick has some thoughts regarding the premiere of the highly anticipated HBO series “The Last of Us.”
Dr. Rick takes the lead reading the blog this week entitled “Frozen.” Dr. Nick is moved, in particular, by the John Wooden quote towards the end. Both guys discuss the importance of considering challenges from diverse perspectives. Open-mindedness, counseling, and collaboration are just of few of the characteristics/strategies mentioned which help people overcome difficult circumstances.
In the "Building the Brochure" segment, Dr. Nick and Dr. Rick continue their investigation of Edutopia’s 10 most significant studies in the field of education from 2022. The article under consideration this week considers the academic advantages of “guided play” in early childhood education. The guys discuss how play can be integrated into work with students in upper level grades as well. Rick talks about the advantages of play therapy, which requires the counselor to use restraint.
The Every Rose has Its Thorn segment focuses on “breakfast” this week. The thorn is similar for both, who just aren’t that hungry in the early morning. Nick, however, prefers a wide variety of cereal options and Rick focuses his rosy attention on breakfast meats, including bacon, sausage, spam, and even scrapple!
The last segment finds the guys digging back into the mailbag to respond to more fan questions. Rick and Nick respond to Dwight, who seems a bit worried about others’ perceptions of his considering a female dominated career – elementary education. Rick and Nick then both tackle the last question about what their “walk up/entrance song” is or would be. Nick shares his four different entrance songs from his days as a professional wrestler, including Kris Kross’s Jump. Rick reflects on the entrance song for his 1993 state championship high school wrestling team – Ice, Ice, Baby, before picking NeedtoBreath’s Hard Love as his current song of choice.
