    Carolyn shares her social work journey from her beginnings in child welfare, pride in her Bronx upbringing and its pivotal role in her practice as well as how she accessed support along the way.

    Guest Bio:
    Carolyn's social work journey began since a young age while growing up in the Bronx. She was a recipient of the UFT scholarship and attended SUNY New Paltz. Her passions for social work led her to Child Protective services in New Jersey where she was able to finalize 33 forever families in the 6 years she worked there. Her heart came back to the Bronx to intern at the Bronx YMCA while completing her final year Fordham Univesity. Working in the heart of the South Bronx has led to completion of hours towards the LCSW. She was also the recipient of the United Health Corps Loan Forgiveness scholarship. Carolyn is also a SIFI instructor and Youth Mental Health Aid certified instructor.

    Ancy is also the co-founder and president of Velocity Visions, Inc., a personal and professional development company committed to providing individuals, groups, and organizations the tools for transformation through training and experiential activities that promote self-care practices, personal and professional growth, and prevention of burnout and compassion fatigue.

    Emily George, LCSW, MS.Ed. spent twenty years working in schools, first as a classroom teacher and then as a School Social Worker. Her practice is holistic, client-centered, and strengths-based with a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, healing-focused lens. Emily received her Masters in Education from Hunter College, C.U.N.Y., and her Masters in Social Work from NYU. She has a Post Master's Certificate in Clinical Practice with Adolescents and is School Social Work and SIFI certified. Emily recently left her position after ten years in her school to build her practice to support those who support, especially those who work in schools: educators, social workers & counselors, school staff, and more.  She is an Adjunct Lecturer, Field Advisor, and Field Instructor at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work.  She also facilitates the Faboo Listserv which has grown to over 600 NYC area social workers and counselors.  It is a space for collaboration, resource sharing, referrals, and more.

    Tynesha received her undergraduate degree from St. John’s University and her graduate degree from Concordia College in Education/Teaching of Individuals in Early Childhood Special Education Programs. She considers herself a lifetime learner who takes great pride in being an educator and providing support to students & colleagues, emphasizing incorporating technology as much as possible. 

    After several years as a special educator in an integrated co-teaching model, she transitioned into the role of Special Education Coordinator for the ‘22 -’23 school year and is excited to support the development and streamlining of systems for all learning styles.
