Micah 5:1-5 | And He Shall Be Their Peace | The Lord's Supper

Micah 5:1-5 | And He Shall Be Their Peace | The Lord's Supper

Preached on Sunday the 6th of August, 2023.

    Micah 5:1-5
"Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek. But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. And he shall be their peace."

    PRE:Christmas Part 1: PREPARATIONS

    PRE:Christmas Part 1: PREPARATIONS

As we move from the RE:series to the PRE:series, we begin to examine Advent through the lens of words that begin with "pre".  Our first word is Preparations.  The Christmas season is filled with preparations, which can be burdensome and stressful, but also joyful and meaningful.  The same was true for the arrival of the Messiah.

God had been making preparations for centuries beforehand, and the birth narrative itself prepares us for Jesus' identity and purpose.  But what do all these preparations mean for us this Advent season?  And who is this mysterious "Gangie Rantz" individual who stresses over picking Christmas gifts?  And how will Chris' daughter do in her big Christmas concert recorder performance?  These important questions (and more) await!
