    Coach Manny Dosanjh,
In this episode, you’ll hear from Coach Manny Dosanjh. Coach Manny is currently an assistant coach for Dwayne Stephens at Western Michigan University. Coach Stephens was recently hired as the new head coach at WMU. Coach Manny comes to WMU after 2 years as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Coach Tom Izzo at Michigan State University. At MSU, Coach Manny worked side-by-side with Coach Stephens. Coach Stephens was one of the top assistant coaches in all college basketball. Before coming to the Spartans, Coach Manny coached at Orangeville Prep in Ontario, Canada. In the 2019-20 season, Manny served as the associate head coach for an Orangeville Prep team which sent seven players to NCAA DI programs and won an Ontario Championship. Coach Manny is from Brampton, Ontario. If you are currently a Graduate Assistant Coach, this is truly the podcast for you. Coach Manny shares his advice on how to approach the GA job. The level of respect he has for Coach Stephens, Coach Izzo, and the MSU Basketball staff resonates throughout this entire podcast. And, wait until you hear how Coach izzo instilled a sense of belief in Coach Manny that he could be a Division I assistant coach. In addition, Coach Manny shares his thoughts on networking. Quite simply, it is a must-listen for young coaches. At 47 years of age, I was taking notes from this 27-year-old assistant coach. Finally, it is refreshing to hear the mindset of a 1st-year college assistant coach. The respect that Coach Manny has for his co-workers is simply spectacular.

THIS IS THE STATE FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29th WHERE WE BRING YOU THE HEADLINES THAT MATTER. I'M RACHEL FULTON.

On Oct. 21, East Lansing council member Lisa Babcock called a town hall meeting with members to talk about the ongoing issue of water damage from the heavy rains back in June, August, and September.

Babcock received a lot of questions from residents about what actions the city is going to take about plumbing and flooding in the future. But Haggard's Plumbing and Heating owner William Haggard, gave more advice for what residents could do in order to protect their homes.

Haggard suggests residents install a check valve which prevents water moving backwards and flooding.

East Lansing City Manager George Lahanas says that the city council is discussing the approval for funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.

This funding would allow residents to install new plumbing such as a check valve.  The city council will call a meeting on November 16th to discuss sewage infrastructure.

East Lansing and Michigan State have been gearing up for a top ten show down between Michigan and Michigan State, drawing fans from all over the state. In addition, both of college football's premier pregame shows (ESPN's College Game Day and FOX Big Noon Kickoff) will be outside Spartan Stadium counting down time towards kickoff.

Both teams enter this highly anticipated matchup 7&0 and ranked inside the top 10. This will be the first time both teams meet inside the top 10 since 1964, and the first undefeated vs undefeated matchup since 2011.

Michigan State basketball took on Ferris State in their first of two exhibition games. It was their first game back in front of the Izzone since the 2019-20 season, as fans watched the Spartans cruise to a 92-58 victory over the Bulldogs.

Head Coach, Tom Izzo and the Spartans, enter the season unranked and are expected to finish in the middle of the Big Ten. Last season, MSU finished with a record of 15-13 and went 9-13 in Big Ten play.

The Spartans starting five included Marcus Bingham, Gabe Brown, Joey Hauser, as well as transfer guard Tyson Walker and freshman Max Christie. Of the five, Hauser was the only one who started at least 10 games last season.

Speaking of sports, our friends over at The State News have a big day today as they take on the Michigan Daily in their annual battle of touch football.

EP 18 - Thomas Kelley, Assistant Coach at Western Michigan

EP 18 - Thomas Kelley, Assistant Coach at Western Michigan

    Coach Thomas Kelley's Story:
In this episode, you’ll hear from Thomas Kelley. Coach Kelley is simply known as TK. TK is currently an assistant coach for Clayton Bates at Western Michigan University. Coach Kelley fell in love with the game of basketball at the age of seven. On a trip to Michigan State as a 6th grader, TK knew that he wanted to be a Spartan. Battling through injuries his entire career at MSU, Thomas stayed in the gym and played a role in helping Coach Izzo get to his first Final Four in 1999. After a successful 15 year professional career, Coach Kelley came back to MSU to start his coaching career. TK started as a graduate manager and prepared himself for Coach Steve Hawkins to give him first Division I full time coaching assistant opportunity. As you will soon find out, the WMU Broncos are so fortunate to have Coach TK. Coach Kelley coaches with a positive energy that is simply contagious. He calls this his “Vibe & Energy” which is at the core of who he is as an assistant coach. If you need to find Coach Kelley, look no further than the gym. Most likely, he is, as he says, “in the trenches” with the players. These lessons of hard work, sacrifice, consistency that Coach Izzo and his staff gave to Coach Kelley resonates in the type of coach that TK strives to be. Tom Izzo built his first Final Four team on Everyday Guys. No doubt, that Coach Kelley is an Everyday Coach. Warning, after hearing Coach Kelley, you might have to get a quick 5 mile run in!
