    Facebook Marketplace Faux Pas

    Facebook Marketplace Faux Pas

Welcome back to another episode of the Nonsexual Soulmates Podcast.

We recently recapped some of our most haunting childhood fears and realized we continue to be fairly paranoid adults. Paradoxically, we seem to suspend all suspicions when it comes to making $7 on our beloved Facebook Marketplace accounts.

Join us as we recount the ways in which we give our address to strangers, trust humanity with porch pickups, and wander into parts unknown for an end table that is a "really good deal" once we spend $45 in materials to resurface it.

This seems to be more "girl logic" in the making, but are men doing this too? Is it just our generation that is obsessed with finding ways to generate extra income? Do you use marketplace (or similar apps) to find a deal? We want to hear your sketchiest stories!

As always, thank you for listening and we will see you next Tuesday.

Welcome to Your Sasstastic Life, a community for Gen X and Millennial women.  Join us for funny and emotion packed conversations that women over 40 are facing. We are here to navigate midlife with you, support and encourage you with empathy and humor.

Gather 'round the fireplace, friends—faux or otherwise—as we share a cup of cheer and our most treasured Christmas traditions. Whether it's the laughable calamity of a flaming fairy toy or the shared madness of Black Friday, we've got the kind of yuletide tales that'll warm your heart faster than chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Join us on this festive journey down memory lane, where we reminisce about the good ol' days of the Cabbage Patch Kids frenzy and the bittersweet memories of Toys R Us, all wrapped up with the camaraderie of holiday shopping escapades.

The spirit of the season shifts, as does the way we celebrate—our holiday traditions have matured alongside us. From the feverish pace of parent mode to the tranquil enjoyment of the here and now, hear how we've swapped present piles for passport stamps, eagerly pivoting towards creating travel-infused memories with our grown children. Yet, even as we declutter our homes of "Schatzkees," it's the mischievous re-wrapping of gifts and the anticipation of what's beneath the wrapping that remains a cherished constant.

As we close the book on another year, we're not just trading in Christmas clutter for joy but also reflecting on the simpler times of childhood and the laughs that come with garage sale drama. With heartfelt gratitude for your companionship with our listeners, we're excited for the fresh start ahead—promising a mix of heartfelt and humorous topics to keep you both entertained and in your feels. So snuggle up in your favorite festive PJs, and let's toast to the adventures that await us in the new year with 'Your Sasstastic Life,' lovingly produced by Apexx VO. Here's to making spirits bright and keeping life sasstastically authentic!

Well, brace yourselves for an amusing yet insightful journey with us, your hosts Tricia Rivas and Wendi Fredregill, as we join forces with the dynamic duo behind the "The Mic Is On" podcast, Tina Smothers and Beth Runles, Property Management Gurus and mentors with over 25 years in their field. Have you ever wondered how owning your neurodivergence can transform your life? Meet Britney Brown, a powerhouse of a woman who’s not just an entrepreneur and a mother of five but also a beacon for the neurodivergent community. Join us as Brit unravels her journey from understanding her ADHD diagnosis to becoming a TikTok influencer. The path was far from smooth, but every challenge and triumph helped shape Brit into the woman she is today.

Adoption is a journey filled with love, joy, and its fair share of struggles. Brit's authentic narrative of adopting four of her five children, navigating motherhood, and her ADHD diagnosis paints a vivid picture of resilience. Her rise as a TikTok influencer amidst the chaos proves that one can turn a diagnosis into a platform for transforming lives.

Do you ever feel inadequate because you lack formal education? Brit understands and shares her unique way of handling this. She signs off as Brit Brown, W.T.A.F., whenever she finds herself being the only one without a degree at gatherings. This episode wraps up with a discussion on the importance of embracing acquired knowledge and using it to our advantage. Brit's story is not just inspiring; it also serves as a reminder that we are not defined by our conditions but by how we rise above them.

At the start of 2020, Britney Brown was a successful full-time professional photographer. Through a series of really weird life events, pandemics, life changes, and joining TikTok (do NOT knock it until you try it!) she realized that her place in the world was helping other people realize they aren’t alone in their bedlam. She created Imperfect Inspiration, a snarky, sassy mental health-based e-commerce brand that focuses on neurodivergent humans, sharing life's messes, and highlighting all of the magic sparkly-brained humans can achieve with the right support. (She also probably forgot to turn off her straightener this morning. It's fine. Everything is fine.)

episode 0035 - Book Club Wrap Up of "The Neighbors" by Hannah Mary McKinnon

episode 0035 - Book Club Wrap Up of "The Neighbors" by Hannah Mary McKinnon

It’s the last Thursday of the month...do you know what that means?!?! BOOK CLUB!!!

Our favorite sisters, Lauren & Lindi, join us to deep dive our October pick, “The Neighbors” by Hannah Mary McKinnon.

This was an exceptionally complex story with so many complicated characters - our heads are still spinning from the whiplash (especially from that last chapter). This was one of those books that just sticks with you. A slow burn that built into a great explosion.

We want to know what you thought! Send us your thoughts, comments, questions, and feedback on the socials or at our email address. All of that information is listed below!

And we invite you to join us for our November Book Club!

Our beloved book-loving-sisters, aka @sistersonthesamepage have chosen a genre we haven’t yet read together and WE ARE THRILLED ABOUT IT! Who’s ready for some historical fiction?!?! WE ARE!

The book is “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris and both Lauren and Lindi guarantee we will be swept up in this deep, emotional story set within the horrific backdrop of the Holocaust. This book is a #1 International Bestseller & New York Times Bestseller.

“This beautiful, illuminating tale of hope and courage is based on interviews that were conducted with Holocaust survivor and Auschwitz-Birkenau tattooist Ludwig (Lale) Sokolov—an unforgettable love story in the midst of atrocity.”

    Book Synopsis:

“In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (the German word for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners.

Imprisoned for over two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism—but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his privileged position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

One day in July 1942, Lale, prisoner 32407, comforts a trembling young woman waiting in line to have the number 34902 tattooed onto her arm. Her name is Gita, and in that first encounter, Lale vows to somehow survive the camp and marry her.

A vivid, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful re-creation of Lale Sokolov's experiences as the man who tattooed the arms of thousands of prisoners with what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust, The Tattooist of Auschwitz is also a testament to the endurance of love and humanity under the darkest possible conditions.”

Please join us as we read into a harrowing love story out of the pages of history.

Have you ever felt a nagging sensation that something bigger and more fulfilling awaits you beyond your routine job? Meet Rina Jensen, who had this exact feeling and took the audacious leap to transform her career in midlife. She swapped her long-term corporate job for the unknown, trusting her instincts and embarking on a path that resonated more with her true self.

Rina didn’t just switch careers; she also navigated adversity and bolstered her resilience. She transitioned from corporate life into the world of business coaching and then into specialized coaching focused on integrating experiences from plant medicine journeys. Amidst our lively conversation, we shine a light on how even non-traumatic adverse childhood experiences can subtly hinder our growth and the pivotal role of self-confidence in overcoming such barriers.

But Rina's story doesn’t end there. We delve into the transformative power of taking responsibility for our lives coupled with the benefits of self-reflection. We explore how acknowledging our subconscious thoughts and challenging the pattern of blaming others for our unhappiness can lead to significant personal growth. From embracing discomfort to the rewards of risk-taking, this episode will inspire you to explore your potential and live your most audacious life.
