We discuss our roses and thorns of pop culture this year including Wonka being movie of the year, Taylor and Travis, BTS all being in the army, and the rise and fall of And Just Like That’s Che and Miranda. We also discuss Love On the Spectrum US returning for season 2, Zootopia opening in Shanghai, and The 1975 being one of the best concerts ever. For our personal roses and thorns we talk about Erewhon, meeting Mr. Morrow, Brooke’s autism diagnosis, and more. For our NTBABBs we talk about Amazon affiliate links and being grateful for not being married.

After a glorious two weeks of being together, the boys are back to trying to record remotely.  The magic lives on in our hearts and in your minds, don't let that spirit die.  Max drove back from the Poconos and is both sick and tired.  Let's slog, baby!   Some light casino talk, bring in the big bucks, baby!  Michael got a happy light and he's now... happy- you can hear it in his voice this week.  Michael sings songs and he sounds wonderful, doesn't he?  Tough talk at the table.

Look, I'm gonna create a second paragraph to talk about this next part because it is truthfully, next level crazy.  Michael has found another celebrity to glean life lessons from and honestly, it's pretty twisted.  When you think of role models, who do you think of? Surely, Robert Dyrdek doesn't skate across your brain as an answer to that question... right?  Wrong!  Welcome to Michael's Inspiration House- where you too can be inspired by Rob Dyrdek (of Rob & Big fame).   We're talking BUSINESS, baby, maybe you should see how Rob (of Ridiculousness fame) handles his business.  Michael breaks down how Rob (of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory) is his new goalpost for success.

    Mitski

    Mitski

Born in Japan to an American father and Japanese mother, singer/songwriter "Mitski" spent her formative years living in numerous countries around the world before her family finally settled in Chicago. It was during these early years, while never fully settling in any one location, or having a consistent group of friends, that "Mitski" discovered her musical passions, by spending every free moment teaching herself how to play Piano.

After dropping out of film school to instead study music, her first two albums were completed before she graduated. With these self-released titles complete, she initiated her own solo tours, playing across the US in venues large and small, even cutting her teeth in small dive bar venues with tough crowds.

In this episode of Roots to Grooves musicians Jay Purcell and Jesse Quigley explore "Mitski's" background, her creative approaches and they spin a selection of their favorite tracks.

Fiona Campbell (Tour Manager for Hinds, Mitski, Shamir and Drummer for Guardian Singles)

Fiona Campbell (Tour Manager for Hinds, Mitski, Shamir and Drummer for Guardian Singles)

Welcome to Roadcase, a podcast exploring the live music experience!!  Fiona Campbell is a swiss-army knife for live music: she is both a drummer and tour manager separately and simultaneously, for multiple bands including Hinds, Mitski, Shamir, The Chills, and Guardian Singles.  A native New Zealander, Fiona is now an American citizen who moved to the US in 2005, attracted by the then burgeoning punk scene in Brooklyn. And as if their love for the live music world were not enough, Fiona is currently attending nursing school as well. We talk about the current music scene in New Zealand, where she is currently located and how Covid is affecting life there. We also discuss how Fiona only works with all-female bands that identify as non-binary -- as does Fiona -- and how gender identification can affect the live music experience at-large. Join us for this informative and enlightening episode, so hop on aboard -- it's a great ride!!

    Ep 11: Puberty 2 - Mitski

    Ep 11: Puberty 2 - Mitski

Folks, this is an EPISODE. Sarah guides us through the longing, pain, and h*rniness of Puberty 2 by Mitski, paired with a tall glass of "shower wine." We'll give you shower wine instructions because Zac grossly misunderstood the beverage's title. This episode feels like a lil sleepover where we all get wine drunk in our pajamas and talk about lOoOoOove. We also talk about having sex on antidepressants, hand fetishes, and, of course, puberty. This is our first remotely-recorded episode, but the energy is still *chef's kiss.* Cheers!
