Robert Capon on the Parable of the Man Who Had Two Sons

Robert Capon on the Parable of the Man Who Had Two Sons

After listening to Robin Shugart's very fine sermon on the parable of the Prodigal from March 27, 2022, the work that Robert Farrar Capon did on the parables came to mind. Capon wrote three very fine books on the parables of the Kingdom, Grace, and Judgement, which were later published in a single volume titled Kingdom, Grace, Judgement  by Eerdmanns, and a taste of that work is contained in this podcast. This audio of Robert Capon is drawn from Mockingbird, which in turn drew from a 2001 interview with Robert on the radio program 30 Good Minutes. We offer only part of the original interview here, with the full version available on Mockingbird.

Burning Man is Not a Place

Burning Man is Not a Place

People all around the world create annual events that align in principle. Some have over 10,000 participants like events in Israel and South Africa. Some have under 20 participants, like “Melting Man” in Fargo, North Dakota. They are collaborative art experiences, celebrations, healing rituals, mutual aid, and fun for a good cause. For 2 decades our global community has been bringing people together.

Andie Grace and Michael Vav talk with Iris Yee, Head of the Burning Man Regional Network, about how various groups activated during these strange times, and what they’re creating next. Here we are re-reminded that it's not about how many or how far, it’s about the culture, the collaboration, and the conversation. This is the What Where When of thriving.

Episode 29 — The Dark and The Wicked

Episode 29 — The Dark and The Wicked

Writer and director Bryan Bertino gained a huge following in horror after he served as the writer and director to the 2008 home invasion film “The Strangers,” which terrified audiences and left everybody in the theater feeling like this could happen to them.

Bertino followed that up with the found footage film “Mockingbird” and then the 2016 movie “The Monster,” which kept him once again focused on a claustrophobic scenario featuring only a couple of key characters. Working alongside producer Sonny Mallhi,

Bertino decided to turn his attention back to his home state of Texas for his latest project, which was actually filmed in his family’s house where he would often go to find inspiration while writing. Set against the backdrop of a sheep and goat farm, a pair of siblings return home to lend a hand to their mother, who has been caring for their ailing father. Despite their mother telling them not to come, the brother and sister defy her request and show up anyways but they soon find out what’s lurking inside the home is the reason why they should have stayed away.

In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to unplug the phone and turn off the lights as we review the 2020 film “The Dark and the Wicked”…
