Cascadia Sasquatch is an enigma wrapped in a riddle, coated with fur.

If you streamed Cascadia’s Mount St. Helens episode, then you know I held back the accounts of sasquatch in the area that go back centuries! Battles between two ape men led to the naming of Ape Canyon and Ape Caves. There’s a slew of modern day sightings, too, including at nearby Spirit Lake. It nearly killed me to withhold those accounts, but I didn’t want to short change the subject. Sasquatch deserves his own full episode.

Hana Beaman joins the show this week for a conversation about her life in snowboarding including competing in this year's Natural Selection tour stops in Jackson Hole and Alaska. Hana embodies what it means to be a snowboarder which is why she's accomplished so much in her 20 year professional snowboarding career.  She has won the US open slopestyle 3 times and has several x-games medals in slopestyle as well. Plus, she's been pushing the progression of back country snowboarding since 2003 when she bought her first snowmobile after learning the ropes from Travis Rice.  Hana Beaman has been riding for Vans snowboarding boots for 20 years! So rad.

Etienne Gilbert was a professional snowboarder with unmatched style. He grew up in Quebec and eventually moved to Whistler where his pro career on Nitro also included filming with Alterna, Sandbox, and Mack Dawg. Etienne's taste for style helped inform the Deja Vu crew making him one of the most influential snowboarders of his era. 

Craig Kelly was born on April 1st. In this very special bonus episode film maker Jacques Russo talks about filming with Craig.

Gwyn Howat is the CEO of Mt Baker. I interviewed her back in 2015 and lost the audio for 6 years! Gwyn's family moved to Mount Baker when her father Duncan took the job of Operations Manager in 1968!! Ever since the Howat's have operated Mt Baker off the grid, creating one of the world's greatest snowboarding mountains. 1985 saw the invention of the Banked Slalom at Mt Baker, Snowboarding's longest running tradition and competition.

Nearly 25 years ago, Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people including 19 children, when he parked a rental van full of explosives in front of the Oklahoma Building, exited the vehicle then triggered the bomb as he walked away. An active volcano, climbing Mount Baker is no small thing. Also, it's over 10,000 feet tall. It's Indigeous name is Kulshan (Nooksack).

Wade described himself as an "empath." This was the same term that was used in Blair's excellent episode.

When Wade first looked in the mirror as a 12 year old boy, he gave himself what he thought he needed. He shut off his empathy. This decision took him on a 30 year journey away from his true self.

If somoene tells you, "men don't cry," they are mistaken. The fact is, a "real man" knows who he is and certainly doesn't hide from his emotions or his true self. This is true for any human being.
