    Katyayanibetha - The Strong Foundation

Today, I want to share a touching story that has left a deep impact on me, as I suffer from MCS myself.

I had the honor of interviewing Katyayanibetha, an extraordinary individual who not only conquered Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) but also made it her mission to uplift others facing the same challenges.

    Meeting Katyayanibetha: An Emotional Encounter

From the moment I met Katyayanibetha, her resilience and warmth shone brightly. Our conversation revealed an emotional journey that moved me deeply.

    Katyayanibetha's Triumph Over MCS

In 2007, Katyayanibetha achieved a seemingly impossible feat—she cured herself of MCS. MCS can be a lonely battle, as it forces individuals to navigate a world filled with invisible hazards, often leading to isolation and despair. Katyayanibetha's personal victory over MCS was nothing short of miraculous.

    Compassion Fuels a Mission

Katyayanibetha's remarkable trait is her boundless compassion. Instead of just celebrating her own recovery, she felt an inner calling to assist others still grappling with MCS. This compassion ignited a mission that has touched countless lives.

    The Heartfelt Connection

While interviewing Katyayanibetha, I was struck by the emotional connection she establishes with fellow MCS sufferers. She truly comprehends the isolation and despair that often accompany MCS, and she is unwavering in her commitment to ensure that no one facing this condition feels alone.

Lisa - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)

Lisa - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)

Trigger warning: This episode touches on distorted eating. If it is triggering for you, please chat to your doctor.

This week’s guest is Lisa aka @livesimplyaus, who deals with multiple chemical sensitivity and multiple food intolerances. Her story is the craziest one of the season. No joke. She’s spent her entire life struggling to find foods she could tolerate and never had a nice bathroom experience until she got to her 30’s. At one point Lisa was so severely underweight, at just a bit over 30kg’s, she was hospitalised, it was dismissed as anorexia. Little did everyone know, she had multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) as well as quite a few other crazy internal things going on.

Chemical sensitivity affects 1 in 5 (18.9%) of Australians, with more than one-third (6.5%) medically diagnosed with MSC. It’s a serious disease that is often caused and worsened by exposure to pesticides, solvents, new building materials and fragranced items. Even low-level exposure can inflict a range of adverse health effects such as migraines, breathing difficulties, cognitive impairment, seizures and asthma attacks.

This interview will make your jaw drop, and also have so much admiration for Lisa. She hasn’t been able to work full time for years and is now on a path to healing.

If you think you have MCS, book an appointment with a health care specialist before self-diagnosing. For some informative links:

13: Environmental Medicine w Dr. Marillea Yu

13: Environmental Medicine w Dr. Marillea Yu

If you’ve got a health concern that hasn’t been solved by your doctor, or worse, is being totally dismissed, you need to learn about environmental medicine. But regardless of your current health situation, this is an episode I think everyone can benefit from because we cover so many different misconceptions floating around about our health in general.

In this episode, I had a conversation with Dr. Marillea Yu, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor with a special interest in environmental medicine. She shared so many great pearls of wisdom in here, and I wasn’t expecting my biggest take-away to be nothing to do with toxins or medicine but rather how we treat each other… have a listen and you’ll hear the theme woven throughout.

    We talk about:

    • What is Environmental Medicine
    • Why we should be aware of - not anxious about - toxins
    • Why “quick fix” detoxes aren’t the answer
    • The problem with “we have detoxification systems to handle everything”
    • Multiple Chemical Sensitivity - what it is and how to be sympathetic to others
    • How Environmental Medicine can support Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue
    • What to do when doctors don’t know what’s wrong with you
    • Approaching detoxification from an environmental medicine perspective
    • The problem with synthetic fragrance
    • Why it’s important to address toxins before you get sick

Dr. Marillea Yu received her BSc in Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island prior to becoming a graduate of The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her clinical interests centre on Environmental Medicine and the effects of everyday toxic exposures on health and wellness and its contribution to chronic and inflammatory disease and autoimmunity. This includes exploring the effects of industrialization on health outcomes, especially in communities and areas where resource extraction has occurred and the effects of industrialization are experienced first-hand.

When not at work she enjoys practicing capoeira, playing soccer, practicing her knitting, reading up on a variety of subjects and spending time with her family.

An Overflowing Toxic Bucket, Chemical Sensitivities and a New Paradigm of Healing

An Overflowing Toxic Bucket, Chemical Sensitivities and a New Paradigm of Healing
In today’s world, we are inundated with toxins in our food, home, personal care products and environment. We are exposed to unimaginable amounts of chemicals, EMF’s, food additives, GMO’s and the like. As a result, many of us are facing health challenges that are unexplainable. Daily headaches, heart palpitations, restless sleep, vision disturbances, anxiety or other debilitating symptoms have become the norm for many of us. And, in an understandable attempt at relief from these incapacitating symptoms, we are visiting doctor after doctor, only to be prescribed medication. Listen in as I interview Dr. Daniel Pompa, who has overcome Multiple Chemical Sensitivity in his own life, as he explains his roadmap to a new paradigm of healing that he has labeled the 5R’s of Cellular Detoxification and Regeneration. We will also talk about what he has dubbed, “The Toxic Bucket Theory” and practical steps that we can take to keep our toxic bucket from overflowing.
