Josh White and the Deeper Well

On today's episode of The PRAZOR House Brandon and Mike speak with Josh White of Door of Hope! Josh began his journey in the Seattle grunge band Manray. After coming to Christ, he began leading worship and met Brandon Ebel (Tooth and Nail Records founder). Together they formed the Christian band Telecast. This led to releasing three albums and found success in the contemporary Christian music charts while touring with bands like David Crowder. Josh would eventually launch into a solar career while founding Door of Hope church in the Hawthorne district of Portland, Oregon. The church grew rapidly in one of the most unchurched cities in America. As new converts joined the church, Josh and the leadership recognized a large influx of music artists. Eventually, Josh would co-found Deeper Well Records with his worship leader, Evan Way. Door of Hope has been the church home for artists like Josh Garrels, Liz Vice, Holly Ann, Tim Mackie (The Bible Project), Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), and many more. The PRAZOR House audience will be encouraged to hear Josh's testimony and how they have impacted the city with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Help Me Believe with Strahan

The PRAZOR House hosts Brandon and Mike speak with New Zealand based singer-songwriter Strahan. Strahan began his musical journey in 2011 with his first EP, Water & Fire. He released it as a free gift on NoiseTrade. The album was downloaded in over 22 countries in a short amount of time. Strahan toured New Zealand in support of his work and playing 250 shows that year. Strahan's album releases have gained global recognition with his deeply moving vocals and prayerful lyrics. His latest album "Vulnerability" features Josh Garrels and John Mark McMillan. Strahan is also the creator of Commoners Communion a blog, podcast and conversational look at the art of poetry in the life of the Church. Together they take a deep dive into his journey including some recent health struggles and the emotional wear that he experienced as a result. Andrea Olson and Overflow Worship

On today's episode, Mike and Brandon talk with Andrea Olson of Overflow Worship. Andrea has been involved in worship ministry nearly all of her life. In 2010, she started a unique 1:1 mentorship program for young worship leaders. As local churches began reaching out for training, the Lord expanded her field of vision. With family in tow, she began touring the midwest and serving the local church. In the United States, 95% of the churches have less than 500 people in attendance. It was from this soil that the Overflow Worship Conference blossomed. Andrea launched overflowresource.com with a goal to equip worship teams with practical and useful tools. Many worship leaders have full time jobs and serve their church as a volunteer. The resources Andrea provides will be a blessing to these men and women as they prepare for each week's worship service. Sonic Pi with Sam Aaron

In this episode, I am talking to Dr. Sam Aaron, the creator of Sonic Pi. Sonic Pi is a code-based music creation and performance tool.

Sam is the creator of Sonic Pi, and also an educator, musician, and was previously also a researcher at the University of Cambridge in the UK. He has created and contributed to an impressive array of open source projects - just one of them is Sonic Pi, which we’re focusing on for this episode.

Sonic Pi, is an essential part of the so-called live coding music scene and was originally built and designed specifically for education. The fact that it is now an important part of the live coding scene plays a huge role for education, too, as many of the children in workshops or at school will find it super inspiring and motivational to know that some of the top artists in this genre are making use of Sonic Pi. In the shownotes, I’ll put a link to a recent article in the NY Times that describes this fascinating development of the music scene.
